2014 Screen Actors Guild Awards Fashion Review!

23 Jan

Eesh.  I think the dresses at the SAG award were either REALLY REALLY awesome or just plain awful.

**copyright claim** all photos are courtesy of just about every single entertainment website on the internet.

We’ll start with the WORST DRESSED!

Betsy Brandt

Betsy Brandt

HAHAHA WHAT IS THIS????

Cate Blanchett

cate-blanchett

I like the color and the dress in general.  BUT random pieces of fabric hanging with no rhyme or reason bothers me.  Maybe that’s why I’m not known for my fashion sense. (I’m still in my tank and yoga pants as I write this)

Claire Danes

claire-danes

This dress looks like an unfinished thought. To sparkle or not to sparkle.

Jane Krakowski

jane-krakowski-sag-awards-2014

Is it just me or does this dress look like something out of Back to the Future pt. 2?

Julia Louis-Dreyfus
julia-louis-dreyfus

Is it just me or are her boobs looking strange in this dress? Like the color but hate the weird chest action.    Congrats on your win though!

Julie Bowen

julie-bowen

You were on my best dressed on my very first fashion review.  It’s taking a long time to climb out of that fashion hole you threw yourself into.  You have the potential. Realize it. Go back to the beginning and start from there.

Juliette Lewis

juliette-lewis-sag-awards-2014

Are you imitating Lucy Liu from the 2013 Golden Globes?

Malin Akerman

malin-akerman

Yuck.  At least it wasn’t the fun bag fallout dress!

Mayim Bialik

mayim-bialik

You actually said to yourself, “I’m gonna wear this to the SAG awards tonight.”  WOW. You keep topping yourself Mayim!  However, congrats on all your success.

 Sandra Bullock

sandra-bullock

Ms. Bullock .. you have graced my best dressed list many times and this is the first time I have to say that this dress…. it ain’t it.  I don’t like the bow on the side, I’m not wild about the fabric or the color… I pretty much just dont’ like it.  But I love you and I can’t wait to see what you wear to the Oscars this year!! Congrats on your win at the SAG awards!! xxoo

Flower Patterns

It’s like all these fine actresses coordinated their dresses or something.  I love them all and they get a pass for their ill-fated fashion attempt … but I don’t like flowers on dresses.

Rita Moreno

Rita Moreno

Emma Thompson

emma-thompson

Helen Mirren

helen-mirren

“I’m the new Christina Hendricks” Award.  Holy Boobies.

Ariel Winter

AWESOME COUPLES!

I love me some couple action. I love when they pose together and put on a unified front.  Love these peeps!

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sari Mercer

chiwetel-ejiofor

What a gorgeous couple. First time I saw Chiwetel was in Salt.  Can’t wait to see more from you buddy! Congrats on yours nominations!

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves

matthew-mcconaughey-camila-alves

What a stunning couple.  I love love LOVE Camila’s gown.  What a beautiful color! Bravo!

  Justin Mikita and Jesse Tyler-Ferguson

jesse-tyler-ferguson-justin-mikita

Beautiful couple, beautiful people. I love the tuxes – perfect.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

tom-hanks-rita-wilson

Always a stand out couple.  I love Rita’s dresses.  She is always such a class act.

Undecided …. but definitely peeked my interest!

Abigail Breslin

abigail-breslin

I think you are on the right track and I love the shoulder jacket with sparkle.  I’m going to be watching you.

Amy Adams

amy-adams

I love the color Amy! So bold and just lovely.  I can’t decide if I like the cut of the chest/shoulder or not.  Either way, it’s not a total win but it’s not a total loss either.  You look gorgeous.

Natalie Dormer

natalie-dormer

You are so interesting to me.  I’m loving you on The Tudors and I really like you in Game of Thrones.  This dress fits your personality (without me knowing what your personality is actually like… HAHA). I love the sleeves.. they are interesting.

Bringin’ the Wonk… aye… WON-KAY!

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts collage

I thought this was a dress at first. And I liked it (minus the horrible color). … then I saw it was a jumpsuit??? Yikes.  Wonky to say the least.

Kerry Washington

kerry-washington

I’m all about being proud of your bump. I don’t normally comment negatively on any preggo lady.  However, I will say I have never been crazy about your fashion choices….

Honorable Mention

Kaley Cuoco

kaley-cuoco-sag-awards-2014You always end up on the good end of my lists.  Not a best dressed this time, but you know what works and what doesn’t.  I love your hair too.

Mindy Kaling

mindy-kaling-best-dressed-2014-sag

Very nice! This dress looks beautiful on you.  Needs to be hemmed, but other than that the dress is lovely.  Your hair though… yikes.  Brush it.

Nancy O’Dell

nancy-o-dell

I hate sleeves on gowns with the exception of Kate Middleton’s wedding dress (which is a rule when you are married in the Westminster Abbey).  I love this dress and the color and surprisingly don’t mind the sleeves.

And Ta-Dahhhhhh!  THE BEST DRESSED YA’LL!!!!!

10. Anna Gunn

FINALLY!  I’ve been waiting for you to make my best dressed.  I haven’t liked anything you have worn until now and I KNEW YOU could do it.  Bravo.  I love the sparkle, the color and the halter top. Keep it up.

anna-gunn

9. Maria Menounos

How elegant! I love the color and the bodice.  So beautiful!

maria-menounos

8.  Sofia Vergara

Ugh. I’m so jealous of you and annoyed by you. But, you dress to kill and I’m willing to recognize it.  Can you send your stylist over to Mayim Bialik? She needs help. ASAP.

sofia-vergara

7. Sarah Paulson

You look like you are ready for tea and cake.  Go on, have some. You’ve earned it.

sarah-paulson

6.  Sarah Hyland

You know, I’ve been watching you for a long time. You look so sophisticated and beautiful.  Delicious. Perfect choice. I’m noticing that champagne is a popular color this year.  For good reason, it goes with almost everyone…. in my opinion of course… remember, I have absolutely no training or license to really critique fashion other than I am just an overly opinionated, frumpy, musician, stay at home mom.

sarah-hyland

5. Oprah Winfrey

Heck yea– Oprah, you rock. Perfect color. Love the neck and the flower, and I dig the curls.

oprah-winfrey

4.  Jennifer Garner

You are always so well put together.  I love the color and the waist.  You are unstoppable!

jennifer-garner3. Kelly Osbourne

LOVE the color.  Love the cut and fit of the dress. LOVE the fabric and the detail. I love the shoulders.  I’m done with the purple hair though. I know you are under contract, but sheesh.  Time for a change.

kelly-osbourne2. Jennifer Lawrence

YES YES YES YES!! I love love love this dress!!! OMG.  I love this dress. I would wear this. I totally would. If I looked like you.  Your stylist is earning his/her pay this year.

jennifer-lawrence

and… here it is…….

1. Lupita N’yongo

WOW.  This chick is fierce and ridiculously beautiful.  I am loving her gowns.  She was my number one at the Golden Globes and she’s my #1 here. I absolutely LOVE the color. I love the detail.  I love the make up.. You are so beautiful! I can’t wait to see what you wear to the Oscars.  Congrats on your win lady!

lupita-nyong

Remember, these opinions are just my own and have no weight in the world.  However, if anyone wants to pay me the big bucks to write silly fashion reviews, I’m totally down.  We’re halfway thru award season ya’ll!  Next stop…. The Grammys on Sunday January 26th on CBS!  Can’t wait!

la-et-gramylist

The Oscars 2013 FASHION REVIEW!!! It’s here!

2 Mar

Oscar time.

FIRST OFF.  I’m a vocalist and performer so let me just say that although Ms. Zeta-Jones is a wonderful actress and my father is in love with you, if you are going to perform, don’t lip sync. (Or at least try a little harder…. yea.. we noticed).  Jennifer Hudson, you are so inspiring. Bravo. Les Mis cast….. uh….. I was embarrassed for you (besides Hugh and Samantha– ya’ll were great… but that’s because you all are broadway vets).  Did anyone else cringe towards the end of their little performance??? Oh man, I just kept closing my eyes hoping it was over soon to save their embarrassment. Eesh.

Second, Seth MacFarlane…. you are RUTHLESS.  And you are kinda cute when you know you’ve been bad.  hee hee  Bravo. Haven’t had that much fun since Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes. Although, Tina and Amy did great too. Awesome touch in including Bill Shatner in your opening number.  LOOOOOOVE me some Bill Shatner.

Now…. for the fashion. I know you’re ready.  So am I.

Lets start with the fellas.

Jason Schwartzman

jason schwartzman

I ❤ mustaches.  I get this guy.  He’s awesome.

Chris Pine

chris pine

Though I’m not crazy about the scruff.. you are such a delicious specimen of a man.  Perfect cast as James T. Kirk.  PERFECTION.

Hugh Jackman

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Is there anything this man can’t do?  Including looking great with rotted teeth in Les Mis?

Bradley Cooper

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
The COOP!!  I’ve been a fan of this dude since he was in Alias as Will.  Then when he was in A-Team…. shoo wee!! Good looking dude.  I’m so proud of him.  You can honestly see him grow as an actor in every film that he’s in.  Congrats on that nomination and I have no doubt you will have your own Oscar soon!!

Daniel Day Lewis

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
Do you remember Last of the Mohicans?  He was BRILLIANT in that film.  When he looked at Madeleine Stowe and said “I will find you!”   … oh, I melt.  He reminds me of my husband.  THAT is yummy.  My husband is yummy.  Mr. Day Lewis is yummy.  It’s a win-win. Congrats on your win Danny!!!  ❤ you!

Jeremy Renner

jeremy renner
Doesn’t Jeremy look like a bashful toddler in this picture?? hee hee

COUPLE TIME!

The Coopers!

coopersBradley brought his Mama!  Love it. Is she wearing tennis shoes?  My kind of Mama.

George Clooney and Stacy Kiebler

George Clooney and Stacy Kiebler

Setting a world record.  I can’t decide if they look good together or not.  Meh.

Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton

helena and tim

Birds of a feather….. (And  I love them both) Sorry about your arm Tim.

The Jackmans

jackmansThe sexiest thing about Hugh Jackman is not his ability to completely slay every role he’s ever in (even the stinkers he’s great!).  It’s how he constantly shows us how much he loves his wife.  He absolutely adores her and talks about her all the time.  SO sexy.

The Tatums

Tatums

So adorable.  Congrats on the bump! 🙂

zzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz… oh sorry… what were you wearing?  I didn’t necessarily had any issue with these dresses.  HOWEVER, they are completely boring and not interesting at all.

Giuliana Rancic

Giuliana Rancic
Meh.  It’s ok.  It’s actually pretty nice for someone who judges other people’s fashion choices.  You know?  It’s not flashy, and it’s forgettable.  One thing that REALLY bothers me about her look is that she looks greasy.  Her hair looks HORRIBLE and stringy. THIS IS THE OSCARS!!!!!!  Try please!

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston
You know, this dress is actually REALLY great– boring and a bit bridesmaidish.. but great.  It’s really beautiful. The color suits her (although I hate it and would NEVER where this color). Here’s the million dollar question and I feel as if I am not alone in this….. WHY didn’t she do something with her hair?  Is everyone else kinda bored with her whole long layered look?

Renee Zellweger

renee zellweger
What is with the fascination with these gorgeous ladies wanting to make their hair look like a grease pit?  Renee is one of my favorites. I love her– she’s also from Texas and I love all things Texas.  Her dress from the 2001 Oscars will make my all time favorite list someday.  She has the ability to pick AWESOME gowns.  C’mon!  You’re killing me here Renee!  Not a good color at all.  In fact there is a lack of color here.  This is my favorite dress she has ever worn to the Oscars… THIS is an Oscar dress ———->  Click Here.

Samantha Barks

Samantha Barks
You are a FANTASTIC vocalist.  By far the best next to Hugh in the whole Les Mis debacle.  I love this dress but it’s missing color on the lips, eyes, necklace…. something… I need a splash of color or it makes me fall asleep– no matter how much non-cleavage you show.

BIG RISK AND WON… AGAIN!

Nancy O’Dell

Nancy O'dell

When this gal  gets a good dress she knocks it out of the park.  She looks GREAT in all shades of cool colors.  This is a gorgeous gown.  Although I typically vomit on those who do the high slit thing, I think Nancy rocks this whole look with class.  I love absolutely EVERYTHING about this dress.  Hair, shoes, fit of the dress, color, make up and neckline… gorgeous.  She looks better than most of the nominees!!! HA!

Meh, at least you tried folks.

Jacki Weaver

Jacki Weaver
I just don’t like it.  Nope.  Not at all. Not even a little.

Kelly Ripa

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
Floral prints?  NO THANKS. You need to have a discussion about that with my opera professor.

Kelly Rowland

kelly rowland

Seriously?  I don’t like the wink-wonk booby action.  I don’t like the high slit. BUT I do like the hair, makeup and earrings.  Well done on that. The dress.. meh.

Olivia Munn

Olivia Munn

I like the corset, but the curtain wrap at the bottom doesn’t do anything for this dress.

Salma Hayek

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
I miss her in color. Is it just me or does she remind ya’ll of Liz Taylor in Cleopatra?  I’m not sure if that’s the look she was going for, but that’s what it looks like to me.

I love this woman.

Helena Bonham Carter

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
She’s such a hot mess and she looks good doing it.  I adore this woman.

Most Improved Award

Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington

Sweet Kerry Washington!  You are beautiful!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for not wearing something like this —>  Click here   or this —–> Click Here.  Well done!

Not a good idea.

Tabtiha Coffey

Tabatha Coffey
Eesh.  Did a plastic black swan sacrifice itself to make that dress?  I dig the gloves.. kinda a throwback to hollywood glamour but you are being far from glamorous here in my opinion.

Jane Fonda

jane fonda

You know, my favorite role you ever played was on 9 to 5.  Best role by far. This dress?  You look like a banana.  You’re Jane Fonda!  WHY???????

Halle Berry

halle berry
I’m a fan of Star Trek, and this outfit would be perfect on there … not on the red carpet.  Also… shoulder pads?? REALLY?  WHY ARE YOU BRINGING BACK SHOULDER PADS??????

Kristin Stewart

kristen-stewart-oscars-2013-red-carpet-getty__oPt
K-Stew, I’m speaking directly to you.  Please brush your hair. Please do something with other than flipping it from side to side . Why couldn’t you have worn the wedding dress from Breaking Dawn Pt. 1?  It didn’t have to be white.. it could’ve been any color and still look better than how you look in this dress.  BLAGH I say.

Amy Adams

Amy Adams
It’s crazy how one dress will look horrible on one person (Amy) and the how it will look great on another.. it’s like a whole other dress on Kaley Cuoco, see?

Melissa McCarthy

melissa mccarthy

Sweet Melissa!  You are a beautiful lady and have nothing to be ashamed of.  I’ve seen you knock frocks out of the park.  SeeSee? See?   This was an off night for you … I am CERTAIN you won’t make this mistake again. Hit up Octavia’s stylist if you need suggestions.  Mm’KK?

WHO INVITED THIS CHICK??????

Brandi Glanville

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Seriously??? This isn’t the Adult Film Awards.  She makes the Oscars look cheap… eh eh?  (ps. she “designed this dress” ….. wow, what a waste of time!)

“We Miss the Seal days AWARD”

Heidi Klum

heidi-klum-elton-john-oscars-party-2013-01

She didn’t go to the Oscars.. but she went to the after party.  This is what she wore.  Yup. We miss when she was just a super model mom of four and the wife of Seal.

SPARKLE CITY!

Jennifer Hudson

jennifer hudson
Didn’t she just blow everyone outta of their seats with her performance?  Such a powerhouse.  If you missed it, you can see a clip of it here!    Not a fan of this dress.. but I LOOOOOVED the one she performed in.  THAT is what I’m talking about— sparkly, sexy and fits like a glove.

Kelly Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne

I like the dress. I don’t like it on her.  I really don’t like it with the purple hair. Need a color change.

Kristin Chenowith

Kristin Chenowith

I love this chick.  She’s pretty much one of the strongest, best vocalists around.  And she’s funny.  I have a love/hate relationship with this dress though.  I love the sparkle for sure, but I can’t put my finger on it.  When I figure it out, I’ll let you know.

Naomi Watts

naomi-watts-290

Eesh.  This goes into the same category as Halle Berry.  It’s awkward and in my opinion, as beautiful as a gal as she is, she looks a bit awkward in it.  However, I do love the color, sparkle and the tiny train.  Actually, If the shoulder wasn’t ridiculously cut out and put back in place I would love this dress.  AND it’s hemmed just PERFECTLY .. a rare occurrence these days.  OH, and your face looks flawless.  Beautifully done on the make up Naomi and congrats on your nomination!

Nicole Kidman

nicole-kidman-290

I feel like we are making a trip back to the 1980s fashion runway. How heavy is this dress? I bet it weighs 25 pounds alone EASY.  This actually reminds me of my sister’s prom dress.  It looked something like this except it was not short– it was all the was all the way to the floor… Click Here.  I loved my sister’s dress. I don’t like Ms. Kidman’s dress.  I do like her hair though. And I do love her aussie-ness.

Sandra Bullock

sandra-bullock-290

I love Sandra Bullock.  I’m looking at this dress loving it starting at her head.. and then I make my way down to the skirt and YUP.  You guessed it.  I hate THE SHEER.  It’s annoying.  The sheer see through crap faze barely made it’s presence known on the Oscars Red Carpet … why did it have to happen to you Sandy?  With that said, if I don’t concentrate on the bottom half of your body, I’m in love with the dress.  I’m STILL in love with you and can’t wait for the day that we can sit together and eat lunch being the BFFs that we are meant to be.

Stacy Kiebler

stacy-keibler-290

Isn’t she cute?  I love her hair and she has GORGEOUS shoulders.  Seriously, they are super great. I like the halter neck of this dress. I’m not wild about the design of the dress or with the pink beading (is there pink beading at the bottom? or is the the change of color from the sequins?) Usually I like pink anything, but this.. meh. In fact, I don’t like this dress.   But she has a great hairdo.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE OSCARS!

Anne Hathaway

anne hathaway

I’m not a hater. But I’m not an admirer either.  This dress was by far the biggest surprise and biggest disappointment.  I expected more. I expected an Oscar dress from you.  This ain’t it.  We all knew you were going to win and you pick THIS?  WOW.  At least steam it or something next time. Congrats on your win though.. and your hair and make up look beautiful.

BEST DRESSED BEST DRESSED BEST DRESSED!!!!!

You know, all of the other awards shows are for warming up.  For the Oscars, a dress must practically be a separate entity.  It’s gotta have that ZING factor and be interesting.

13.  Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana

How gorgeous is this dress?  It’s so interesting and I love the shades along the hemline.  Ms. Saldana is a GORGEOUS woman.  She’s come a long way since Crossroads with Britney Spears… hahaha thought we would forget, huh?  You were great in that and you are even better today.  Yea.. I watched Crossroads. So what?

12. Queen Latifah

queen latifah

Doesn’t she look delightful?  She knows what looks good on her and I’m constantly impressed with her.  Love the color, love the fit … you look lovely.

11.  Robin Roberts

Robin Roberts

This is how you do it folks.  You look radiant Robin!  Welcome back!  I absolutely LOVE this dress. I want one in every color.  Isn’t the fabric gorgeous? She looks like royalty.  Love it. (You have lovely arms by the way).

10.  Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain

Talk about old Hollywood glamour!  Normally I would tell a red-head never to wear this color… but dang, she is smoking! I love the hair, I love the make up (the lips really do tie everything together), I love the neckline… lovely!  The only complaint I have about this dress is the hem… I don’t understand it. Congrats on your nomination!  Can’t wait to see you in the future!

9.  Jennifer Lawrence

jennifer-lawrence-435

How appropriate!  She was the lady of the night and this dress certainly helped her played the part well (despite her tripping up the stairs… but she handled that with grace).  It is almost bride-ish.. but with the detail on the dress it sets it a part enough I think.  Congrats on your win Jennifer! I can’t wait to see the movie!

8. Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon

It’s my fellow Tennessean lady! I love the black detail on this dress (complete with a little bow!).  The blue is a fantastic color against her golden locks.  So pretty!  That particular fabric constantly makes dresses look wrinkled.. but despite that, Ms. Witherspoon looks amazing.

7. Charlize Theron

charlize-theron-290

OMG.  SUCH a drop dead beautiful lady.  She looks like the oscar trophy. This dress alone would be boring to me.. slap it on Charlize and sha-ZAAAAAM!  I love it.  I love the beautiful corset and the train.  She was able to help a dude suffering from a seizure in this dress moments before this picture was taken.  Isn’t she amazing?  I love her.  I also love her J’adore commercial.

6. Adele

adele

Did ya’ll catch her performance?  Click here.  The best of the best. So why didn’t the sound engineer fix her mic during the chorus of the song? The part where she bends the pitch just slightly is genius.  **sigh** Nothing like have good sound peeps doing your mix.  Back to the dress. I love the length of this dress and the sparkle.  I also love 1/2 sleeve. Her hair and makeup look like perfection.  If there was a definition, Adele’s face would be right there beside it.

5.  Catherine Zeta-Jones

catherine zeta jones

Va Va Voom.. THIS IS AN OSCAR DRESS.  Look at the detail! Look at the color! I love the contrast between her dark hair and the color of the dress.  One tip, sync up your lips when you LIP SYNC.  Granted, put me on a stage and be asked to sing upside down.. I wouldn’t be able to do it either….. but I would TRY!   PS.  My dad thinks you’re hot.

4.  Maria Menounos

Maria Menounos

I adore this whole package.  From the dress to the hair to the jewels.  It’s a throw back to the 60s with her hair and she’s a total sexy minx.  She’s also pretty darn consistent on the red carpet.  See SeeSee?  She knows her look.

3. Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried

THIS IS AN OSCAR DRESS.  Look at the detail on this dress.  How gorgeous does she look?  I’ve said it before in my movie review for GONE.  She’s been in some real bombs, but man, I have such high hopes for her.  She is a wonderful actress.  I want her to do well.  I really do.  With all this said, she’s pretty darn consistent on the red carpet as well.  See? See? See?

2. Jennifer Garner

jennifer-garner-290

Anyone who knows me knows how much my husband and I love Jennifer Garner (Especially in ALIAS as Sydney Bristow, HOLLLLLLLAAAAA!!!!!).  How adorable were her and Ben?  This dress is so lovely.  So classy and perfect when combined with her husband.  She is such a classy broad.

HERE IT IS FOLKS…#1… it might be a different choice, but it’s MY choice!

1.  Octavia Spencer

octavia spencer

I love full figured ladies who know how to dress (cuz I need all the inspiration I can get…and I have zero style folks). This lady is an inspiration (take note Melissa McCarthy– get her stylist’s number!) She KNOWS how to dress for a formal affair with the body God gave her.  The slanted shoulder line is so graceful!  The color is PERFECT.  Such a classy lady. THIS is an OSCAR dress for an OSCAR winner! War Eagle Octavia, War Eagle.

What did we learn this award season people?  Let’s recap:

1) See through crap/Sheer fabric messes SUCK.

2) Floral Prints are a HUGE NO NO.

3) No matter how cool you want it to be, shoulder pads are something that should STAY in the past and never make a come back.

4) High slits are OVERRATED!

5) STEAM your DRESSES!!!!

In closing, I would just like to say THANK YOU BABS for singing.  I think I speak for all young vocalists when I say  “I wanna be you when I grow up!”

2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards Fashion Review!

31 Jan

WHOA BUDDY!!  The good, the lace and the WONKY! This award season is fun.  I’m not wild about a lot of the styles.  However, there were improvements from recent disappointments AND there was a hard fall from the glamour pedestal from one of our big Oscar Nominees.   Two big things I noticed for the SAG awards: LOTS of Black and White and if you went with color then you REALLY went with a BIG color.  On a side note, what is up with people wearing part solid/part sheer outfits, cut out dimensions on perfectly timeless dresses, and letting the hem be WAY too long .. like “no purpose, doesn’t look like a train and you’re gonna trip on it ” kinda long?

**copyright claim** all photos are courtesy of just about every single entertainment website on the internet.

We’ll start with the MOST IMPROVED.

Kerry Washington

This by far is not on my best dressed list, however, what an admirable try for the SAG awards.  Everything looks well put together compared to your recent tries. I’m especially excited about your sleek hairdo. You look lovely.  Keep it up!

kerry-washington

Juliana Marguilies

BRAVO lady!  You look rejuvenated and beautiful.  Thank you for not wearing curtains with pockets.

julianna-marguiles

Gorgeous hairdo as well.  A+!

Julianna-Margulies-In-Chado-Ralph-Rucci-2013-SAG-Awards

What is up with all the LACEY looking gowns?

Nicole Kidman

Such a gorgeous creature and she chooses the sheer see-through lace look.  Eesh. I do like the color against your skin tone though.

Nicole Kidman

Mayim Bialik

You know, I’m just gonna say it.  You and I don’t see eye to eye on what looks good.  BUT despite this major difference, I do think you look nice in this frock but the color is ick.

Mayin Blailik

Look at all of these lacey numbers… what do you think? Are you a fan of the lace?

Edie Falco

Edie Falco

Jennifer Garner

She looks like the Oscar Trophy.  I love her.

jennifer-garner

Melanie Lynskey

WHY do people let the length of dresses look RIDICULOUSLY long?  How do they not trip!?!?!?!?!

Melanie Lynskey

Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts

For one reason or another… I have a SOFT SPOT for these gals.

Lea Michele

First off, I love Lea Michele.  Love her voice and respect her talent.   I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE this color.  It’s bright, bold and explosive.  With that said, it’s a little “prommy.” BUT maybe that’s the vibe Lea was going for. I mean, she just graduated from high school in Glee last year… right?  🙂

lea-michele

Julia Stiles

Man, I love Julia Stiles.  I have a soft spot for her. I am not a fan of this grey color for the red carpet, however, I like the cut of the dress and the detail.  It reminds me of paint splatter on a wall. Also, is it just me or does Julia look like a cat in this pic?

Julia Stiles

Sally Field

She’s quite arguably one of the best actresses around.  I love her free spirited look and keeping her style classy and fun.  I also love this color on her.

sally-field

The Plain Janes.

I can appreciate those who like to keep it simple, especially for the SAG awards.  The SAG awards, to me, seem to be the most relaxed compared to the Golden Globes and Oscars.

Elisabeth Moss

I recently started watching The West Wing and Mad Men.  I’m looking forward to seeing more from this chick.  She looks cute.  Simple. Understated. And Sparkly.  Nice. … and she married Fred Armison and divorced him all within a year.  I wonder what happened there.

elisabeth-moss

Gretchen Mol

OMG.  Have you seen Boardwalk Empire??? I can’t decide if I love her or hate her character.  I guess that means she’s doing a good job, eh?  I think this look works for her.  I liked the green against her skin. I just think this dress itself looks boring and kinda like a bridesmaid dress.  Right right?  IT does!

Gretchen Mol

Jane Krakowski

Ugh.  PEACH?  Seriously?  I like the sparkle (cuz I dig all things that shine), however, peach?  She’s taking her responsibilities for Trop 50 a little too far.  Blagh.  A wash-out.

Jane Krakowski

Tina Fey

Some people love her, some people hate her.  I love her. So smart, so funny.  I also think she has a knack for wearing things that compliment her personality and body.

tina-fey

Taking a risk and WINNING!

Nancy O’Dell

You get the big risk award.  I LOOOOOOOVE this dress.  I think it is SO interesting and it fits like a glove with her figure.  She’s only a tv host and she looks like a super star.  I love the color, train, fit, fabric…. I love the earrings and the hair.  JOB WELL DONE NANCY!

Nancy Odell

Not impressed.

Claire Danes

First, let me say– I actually like this dress.  I love the black on the  one shoulder draped look and the detail up the slit.  However, for a nominee (and winner), I was hoping for a little more from Claire.  This is just a little… boring for my taste and don’t get me started on your hair.  Congrats on your win though!  Cannot WAIT for next season of Homeland.

Bringing the Wonk.

Eesh. There are a lot of these wonky frocks.  I don’t know what is up with the choices this season.

Jane Lynch

Bondage anyone? Jane you are such a classy lady.  This look gives me the impression that you are auditioning for the next Conan the Barbarian movie.

Jane Lynch

January Jones

Now now now January.  You and I both know the only person who could possibly pull off this hideous frock and make it look remotely  good is Helena Bonham Carter.  Even then I still wouldn’t like it but at least she would own it like she came out of the womb wearing it.  You’re trying too hard.  C’mon. You’re a pretty girl.  You can do this.

january-jones

Jenna Elfman

UGH. I **HATE** sheer see through crap.  It leaves little to the imagination and is so tacky (in my humble opinion).  You are such a beautiful gal Jenna!  Why are you wearing something like this?   I like the halter idea but the rest of the dress is HIDEOUS. Sorry.  I do love your new show 1600 Penn.  Fingers crossed they don’t cancel it. You are super duper funny in it.

Jenna Elfman

Julianne Moore

Flower power!  No thanks on the cleavage dip.  Not a good look. At. All.

Michelle Dockery

I’m really trying hard to like Downton Abbey … there are brilliant moments but I am still trying to figure out what all the fuss is about.  Eesh.  I do like your character, I just don’t care about you yet.

Michelle DOckery

And I don’t care about your sideboob here either.  The End. Cue music.

Morena Boraccin

I LOVE MORENA.  I don’t love this dress.  It resembles her reptilian side from her cancelled TV show V.  Don’t you think?  Kind of a weird design if you ask me.

Morena Boraccin

Rose Byrne

Huh???

Rose Byrne

Sigourney Weaver

This actually hurts my heart to write negatively about my dear Sigourney.  She’s Ellen frickin Ripley for crying out loud! Unless she is lighting blowtorches and beating the crap out of some drooling alien in this dress, she might as well be in a paper bag. What’s up with this cut?  When stars look in the mirror with their stylist (or with their BFF), do they get lied to about how they actually look?  You are such a classy, timeless woman … this dress doesn’t do you justice. In fact you would do much better with wearing fig leaves over this dress. On another topic, I CANNNNNNNNOT wait for your summer drama Political Animals to come back.  I adore that show and I adore you.  ❤

Sigourney Weaver

How fast they fall.

Julie Bowen

You’re killing me here lady.  Seriously WHAT IS UP!?!? Are you giving up all together?  This dress is poorly fitted to you knock out bod, the color looks drab, your hair looks like a hot mess and your hemline is too long. The best thing I can say is your face looks gorgeous.  I love the natural look for you with the smokey eyes.

julie-bowen

Anne Hathaway

I cannot wait for these sheer fishnet crap dresses to phase out.  Absolutely dreadful!  I am so disappointed right now.  You’re an Oscar nominee … you’re Anne Hathaway!!  WHY WHY WHY???? If the dress was just a little bit shorter and you had ice skates on I would think you were auditioning for a Nancy Kerrigan biopic.  C’mon!!!  I’ll be holding my breath for your Oscar dress… I expect BRILLIANCE from you!

Honorable Mention

Alfre Woodard

Such poise!  Wonderful color!  I love you.  Lets do lunch!  xo

Alfre Woodard

Jessica Lawrence

Very lovely!  I heard you had pneumonia on this night.  Good to see you are on the mend.

lawrence

There was a little “mishap” with your dress as you walked up to the podium to accept your award (congrats by the way).  Apparently though folks, I’m happy to report that it was just the lining that popped off and it didn’t actually rip.

Jessica Chastain

Great color.  Great fit.  Great hair. Great great great.  (WAYYYYYY better than your Golden Globe gown)

And Ta-Dahhhhhh!  THE BEST DRESSED YA’LL!!!!!

7. Maria Menounos

Doesn’t she look amazing?? Holy smoke!  She is DEFINITELY one of the best dressed so far this award season. Hooray!

Maria Menounos

6. The chick who came with Matthew Morrison

I have no idea who this chick is but I want this dress.  If I was still performing classical music, I would totally wear this dress if I could.  I love the lines and the neckline and the concert black color.

5.  Sofia Vergara

Yea yea yea.  You’re every man’s dream and you annoy me.

sofia-vergara

But I can’t deny that you rocked it at the SAG awards. Bravo!

4. Amanda Seyfried

This gal is on my radar.  I think she gets better and better with everything that she’s in (and believe me, she’s been in some stinkers).  BUT there’s hope. I see the talent– and she’s fun to watch.  She’s a gorgeous gal too.  I thought this gown was a gorgeous color next to her blonde locks.  I love the fit of the dress around all of her curves.  It just looks lovely.  Gorgeous look!

3.  Idina Menzel

This dress (to me) is delicious.  If I had her body, I would be in this dress in a heartbeat.  It accentuates all the perfect spots.  I love the burst design on the rib of the dress.  My favorite part of this dress?  The straps on the shoulders.  I love the thick band and the dynamic neckline.  Definitely one of my faves.

Idina Menzel

2. Helen Hunt

I LOVE SPARKLE.  I love SILVER. This is a SUPERB choice for an awards show nominee.  I love Helen Hunt.

19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Arrivals

1.  Jamie Alexander

WOW.  This dress is STUNNING. To be honest– to me, this dress is SO cool. It’s daring and is oh so very sexy.  My husband says it needs some chainmail because it’s “costume-y” and would go well when she plays Thor’s sidekick Sif.  This dress reminds him of her character. Alas, this is my list and not his.  I LOVE IT.  And it’s my #1.  So there.

Jamie Alexander

We’re halfway through award season ya’ll!  Next stop…. The Grammys on Feb 10th!!!!!  Can’t wait!

Mama and Papa Movie Review: Gone

1 Jun

Star Rating:  2 stars

(for Star Rating key: https://madtimemama.wordpress.com/mama-and-papa-movie-reviews/)

Amanda Seyfried.  I like her.  She has that “Like-ability” factor about her.  Kind of the same way I like Kristen Bell.  I think she and Kristen have the potential to do something great.

This movie ain’t it.  I’ll admit I was intrigued by the story preview.  A girl (Amanda Seyfried =Mandy) gets kidnapped.  She’s trapped in a hole dug deep into the ground.  She escapes but no one believes her that she was abducted.  So much so they admit her to a mental facility.  Well, skip forward to present day,  Mandy’s sister is all of a sudden gone when Mandy gets home from work.  She is SURE it’s the dude who kidnapped her. The whole movie is about fighting/running with/from the police regarding the truth of the matter—which no one believes her in the first place.

I think the movie could have been good.  But honestly, it was lacking in a lot of departments.  The mystery of the dude?  He’s just some random dude?  Really?  Not a lot into the back story which if had been told correctly could have been effective for the rest of the movie. The escape from the police scenes were sometimes too much and unbelievable.  Then the cop that actually “believes” her and helps a little bit just fades away.  I was kinda hoping he was involved in someway with her capture… but he was another side character that just faded away. Side characters are important movie makers!! They can make or break a movie!!!

Also, this is on a side note.  Have you ever seen this chick?  Here name is Katherine Moennig.

She’s in this flick and it annoys me to NO end.

1)   She has NO range.  She plays the SAME character in every movie (kinda like Angie Jolie—except for in the Changeling and A Mighty Heart, both of which I liked– although those two characters were similar..hmmmm)

2)   She likes to play androgynous characters.  Ok.  We get it. Woopty Doo.

3)   I keep waiting for this chick to actually do something good, but she disappoints me EVERY time. Sure, I see potential.  Do something with it!  Being Gwynnie’s cousin won’t automatically get you that Oscar!

4)   Please, please can we see a different haircut?  For once? I want to buy you a hairband.  (I say this with love because I, too, am in SERIOUS need of a haircut and a fresh look.  How about we go together?)

This movie is forgettable, thankfully.  Don’t watch it.

Quote from me:  “Which movie was this again?”
