2015 People’s Choice Award Fashion Review!

10 Jan

Wa-HAAAA-Hoooooooooooooooooooh! Look who’s back? So I missed the Emmys. Big whoop. I’ve been off of social media for 10 months pretty much. Not gonna lie, it was great. If you haven’t taken a break from “laying it all out there on the interweb,” I suggest you try it. It’s like erasing 1000 voices from your head all at once. Do I sound crazy? Maybe I am. Or maybe I’m a genius. It’s all a matter of opinion.

Buckling down… here we go. People’s Choice 2015 FASHION. Where did the gowns go? Is it just me or when did award shows get so casual? I don’t mind occasionally donning a special innovative outfit and taking risks (cuz I do it so often walking briskly between my bedroom and living room)…. But people don’t want to see boring cocktail dresses and pants suits. Celebrities (as sad as it is) are America’s version of royalty. When you think of royalty, you think of princesses and princes. When you think of princesses and princes, you think of ball gowns. I want to see peeps get down to the nitty gritty formal attire for these events. Jeez. Is nothing sacred anymore?

Grab your Diet Sundrop and your bonbons. Lets dive in and get started with all the bummers and end with the positives.

Why even leave the house? Did you actually say “I think I’ll wear this to the People’s Choice. It’s perfect.” While mismatched is what you were looking for, it comes across as a slice of bacon wrapped enthusiastically around a lace table cloth. Cool shoes though and your make up is flawless.

Ariel Winter

Is this a dress? Or a skort? (hahah for some reason I laugh when I say SKORT out loud.) You know this outfit reminds me of a story. In my middle school youth days, I was pals with this gal who was probably considered a part of the “in crowd.” She was always concerned with how great she looked, if her hair was hot rolled, and how good her butt looked in jeans from The Limited (is that store still open? Does anyone even shop there any more?). She was good at looking good. She looked GREAT. Flawless. Every hair in place, every accessory perfectly situated.   A timeless beauty in most ways. She was someone who everyone wanted to be friends with just so you could walk down the hall beside her in between classes. This is of course as a wind machine blew her hair back dramatically and with a ray of light shining behind her. All while I strutted every ounce of coolness just to keep up with her in slow motion to the tune of “I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight” and everyone stopped in their tracks to look at her (and me.. I thought.. HA!). The good ole days. Anyways, one day she wore plaid shorts with a sleeveless shirt and a matching vest in the dead of winter in middle TN. Keep in mind, that doesn’t sound so far fetched when you realize it was the early 90s.  It was THAT winter where there was one of the storms that collided to create “The Perfect Storm” — the storm the movie is based on. Anyways, curiously, I asked this pal of mine the obvious question (I didn’t gain the nickname “Captain Obvious” as a teenager for no reason). I said “Friend, you’re wearing shorts. Are you aware of this? It is wintertime.” She very reassuringly said, “Allye, these are ‘Winter Shorts.” Said in a magical, disapproving tone… ok.. There is no point to this story other than I just wanted to tell it. But I digress. This outfit reminded me of that little gem of a memory. Only this outfit just looks like Ms. Winter forgot to put her pants on and she’s about to rip off the coat and show some tassles. How old is she? 16? **sigh** These girls keep dressing like this younger and younger.

You wanna see what I looked like at 16? C’mon. You know you wanna. Here it is.

Allye at 16

Even better.. here is in 1992!

Allye in Middle School

Yea, that’s the stuff!

Rita Volk

Rita Volk

C’mon folks. Do I really need to explain what is wrong with this picture? This ain’t the MTV Movie Awards honey. Hm. One would think this chick wouldn’t show up on any fashion list. Probably why I don’t even know who this gal is. Good luck on the next MTV soap opera drama you crawled out of.

Kelly McCreary

Kelly McCreary

See, here’s a perfectly nice outfit (not necessarily ranks as a choice for an awards show, but for afternoon tea . . . maybe). However, why have a peekaboo cut out triangle when it’s not needed?

Katharine McPhee

Katharine McPhee

You know, this is an adorable dress. Maybe for Amal Clooney’s wedding rehearsal? Or a polo match? I’ve never been to a polo match but I could totally see Katharine wearing some shmancy hat, sipping on beverages with umbrellas and stomping on divots. At least I can envision it if it’s similar to the polo match in Pretty Woman. If this is a two piece, I wish it was just a midriff baring top than without it being a peekaboo sort of thing. If you’re gonna show your stuff.. show it. Don’t be a tease.  Kind of annoying. Ms. McPhee looks beautiful though. No doubt about that.

Kaley Cuoco

Kaley Cuoco

Again, this looks more like a bathing suit cover up or an outfit to wear at a picnic rather than the People’s Choice Award. Also, I can’t stand it when peeps cock their head up like that for photos. Wouldn’t hurt to smile a little bit too hun.

Anna Faris

Anna Faris

**cue mariachi band!** Clap clap! What is this??? And why are you wearing it? You’re the host! You should have taken a tip from your co-host Allison Janney! So much to learn! At least you can cuddle up to Chris Pratt at night while you cry over your fashion failures. Olé!

Distracting Floral Designs

Karina Smirnoff

Karina Smirnoff

This would look on a piece of furniture timelocked back to the 1970s. You’re still one of my favorite dancers on DWTS. Here’s my favorite dances you choreagraphed of all time:

Linda Edlestein

Linda Edelstein

Have ya’ll watched The West Wing? Linda played the hooker that had a one night stand with Rob Lowe on the very first episode. It took me a second to realize where I recognized her. Anyhoo. You know how when you itch your eye and you push too hard and you kinda start to see something similar to snow on a tv screen and it kind of makes you feel lightheaded? Yeah, that’s what this dress is.

Jillian Rose Reed

Jillian Rose Reed

I applaud you for being formal—something most of the younger attendees have been lacking. However, this looks like a blanket of gum wrappers folded together in the middle of the night while tripping on LSD. You have a beautiful figure—I would kill for your figure. Lets do some serious rethinking about your next award show attire. Alright?

Camilla Luddington

Camilla Luddington

You portrayed one of the most amazingly perfect fashion icons of the modern age and you chose to wore this? This actually would have been such a pretty dress. However, don’t do two different distracting designs. Do one of the other and pray it works because wrapping tar around this dress isn’t going to make it better.

Amy Adams

Amy Adams

Very rarely can this kid screw up. She’s got her system and style down. While I’m not crazy about this frock, the color and neckline are gorgeous.

Ginnifer Goodwin

Ginnifer Goodwin

I don’t get it. Are you going out for a part as an experimenting nun who sews moo-moos or for a part in one of Tyler Perry’s Madea movies? So not a pretty dress and I miss your long hair.

By the way, Tyler Perry just messaged me. He wants me to tell you that “you got the part!”

Kimberly Perry

Kimberly Perry

Love. This. Color. Not a bad attempt. Your hair could use some work and maybe some Pantene Pro-V love. Overall, good job.

Ellen Pompeo

Ellen pompeo

I have to admit, I love this color. I really do think it looks great on the red carpet. Plus the endless amounts of shimmer you can put on your skin is really your best accessory for this color gown in my book.

Ellen Degeneres

Ellen Degeneres

This is supposed to be a part of her new clothing collection. Nice! I am not crazy about white though. But I dig it.

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea

Meh. Ok, so you are a chick who raps. I’m digging your hair but I hate the midriff. Just a little longer and it would be a nice looking pant suit motif and even a little fancy.

Get it, get it?

I couldn’t resist.

Melissa McCarthy

Melissa McCarthy

Hotness. I love this outfit. This is the rare exception that I will accept such a casual outfit at the awards show. I think this is perfect. It’s tailored just right, her makeup is flawless. Her clutch goes perfectly and her shows are great. Well done! And congrats on your win!

Monica Potter

Monica Potter

In my humble, uninformed opinion, this would be suited better for a first date or a work dinner. Either way, it doesn’t really go with the red carpet at an awards show.

Bella Thorne

Bella Thorne

This is actually an AWESOME pants suit. I just don’t want it on the red carpet.

Portia de Rossi

Portia de Rossi

Smokin. She’s an exception only because she looks so freakin’ hot in it. Bravo!

Mayim Bialik

Stars in the Press Room at the 2015 People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles

Oh Mayim, you’re never boring. That’s for sure. You know, your dresses are kinda like the Eeyores of award shows. That’s why you get your own section in my Fashion Reviews right here at MadTimeMama.com. So.. I guess congrats?

Gina Rodriguez

Gina Rodriquez

Meh. It’s alright and a valid attempt. But it looks like a late 90’s bride’s maid’s dress. You know? Like the kind that you were relieved to wear out of all the horrible choices the bride picked out but would never ever wear again under any circumstances. Yea, that’s this dress.

Molly Tarlov

Molly Tarlov

Love the color. Hate the dress style. Like the hair. Hate the shoe color. Love the lips. Hate the smoky eye makeup. How’s that for trying to even the comments out? Just not a fan of the Grecian style dresses but bravo for trying.

Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland

If this dress was just like the top all the way down to the floor, she would have landed on my best dressed. Alas, she chose to do that sheer see through crap. Ain’t nobody’s legs look good in that. Except maybe Kim Kardashian. But she pretty much inspired the movement and then broke the internet. Buh-dum-bum!

Here we go…. Best Dressed for the People’s Choice Award 2015!

9. Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union

Really really boring dress. BUT, out of the bunch I had to go through, you do look awfully nice in purple! Love the necklace too.

8. Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell

I admire you so much. Less than a month ago you gave birth for the second time and here you are looking absolutely radiant on the red carpet. You go Mama! I ❤ you. And I want to be your best friend. Seriously, can we? Cuz I know we would hit it off if you would give a chance. No? ok.. I’ll back off.

7. Bellamy Young

Bellamy Young

Can I just say that you make a beautiful fake First Lady? Next to Stockard Channing, you are one of my most favorite fake First Ladies of all time.   Here is an instance where I don’t mind the sheer crap as much. It actually looks tasteful. I can’t see the sleeves very well but I am not sure how I feel about that shoulder fabric action. In any case, love the shoes, love the make up, love the clutch. Love you.

6. Greer Grammar

Greer Grammer

Absolutely LOVELY! This is how you dress people. Elegant, poised. Hair is lovely and sophisticated. Isn’t this Kelsey and Camille Grammar’s girl? I think she is going to be Ms. Golden Globes! I can’t wait to see what she wears!

5. Giuliana Rancic

Giuliana Rancic arrives at the 41st Annual People's Choice Awards

How old school! She looks straight up out of the 1950s with this dress. How lovely is the color and the design? I’m into her hair – I like dark haired Giuliana. However, she definitely would be given two thumbs up by Ms. Joan up above.

4. Stana Katic

Stana Katic

You have come so far from playing a Russian hooker on Law and Order: SVU. I think there is an unspoken rule that all actors must do a guest starring stint on that show to get their start. I love this dress. It’s fun and it’s interesting. I don’t like the fuzzy hair though. Nice choice. You look beautiful!

3. Viola Davis

Violet Davis

Holy crap this woman knows exactly what looks good on her. This color is GORGEOUS. Absolutely stunning. This is it ya’ll. That’s the stuff right there. Take note people. I expect to see this kind of sophistication at the Golden Globes.

2. Cote de Pablo

Cote de Pablo

A rare appearance by Ms. de Pablo, but definitely one of my most favorites of the night! Isn’t she stunning? Now, I’m going to ignore the sheer crap on the side, but I will say…. I adore this gown. I love the shoulders too. Those lace capped shoulders are fantastic! Love the hair, love the make up. I love you Cote! Boy do I miss you on NCIS. I hope you make a comeback… at least towards the end of the series should there ever be one. Muah!

1. Allison Janney

Alison Janney

This is how it’s done. She is a star. She LOOKS like a star. Perfection in a dress is what she is. I love this woman. She is one of my favorites of all time. I love this dress. As one of the hosts for the evening, it’s only fitting that she get the top spot! Bravo!

In Memoriam

I would like to send a shout out to Melissa Rivers and her son. Your mom was a one of kind and definitely one of my favorites. Keep your chin up! Her legacy lives on!  RIP Joan Rivers.

This was fun…. Next up…..The Golden Globes!  Stay tuned!!!

It’s HERE! It’s HERE!!! 2014 Oscar Review!

4 Mar

So, I wasn’t able to cover the Grammys due to Mommy and Rockstar duties. But honestly… did you miss it? The fashion at the Grammys has gone WAY downhill.  I’ll tell you that there are two things I remember about this year’s Grammys.  Beyonce’s butt silouette and Pink doing a repeat performance high wire routine.  Both of which I wish I could forget for the most part.  However, one of my finest, smartest and coolest pals named Joy said about Pink, “If I could do what she does I would do it everywhere.”  And honestly, if I had Beyonce’s butt, I would want to be naked all the time and run through the streets in a g-string singing Girls Who Run The World…….Don’t lie… you would too.

Anyways… back to the task at hand.  The Oscars is a VERY VERY different story.

The fashion at the Oscars is the BIGGEST FASHION moment all year and our beautiful Hollywood actors and actresses did not disappoint.

Lets dive in and start with the MAMAS!!!

Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington

YOU BLEW ME AWAY.  You look GORGEOUS.  So perfect and glowing.  Gorgeous color, beautiful hair.  Delicious lips. I love it all.  You look STUNNING.

Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde

Such sophistication.  She’s not due for a couple more months and she is looking beautiful.  Throughout this award season, she has been so proud of her bump.  This time is no different.  Love the halter top and the white back.  So lovely.

Elsa Pataky (a.k.a Mrs. Chris Hemsworth)

Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth

This bumpin’ Mama is carrying twins this time around.  If I were carrying the God of Thunder’s babies, I’d be bumpin’ it all over west Hollywood too.  Heck yea I would.  She looks so happy and content.  I love the Mama aura – she’s beautiful.  And very old Hollywood glamour.

A Free Pass.

Alfre Woodward

Alfre Woodard

I love the color and detail but hate the cleavage mesh (as glorious as your boobies are).   You look very regal though.

Bette Midler

Bette Midler

You get a pass Divine Ms. M.  That’s right… I don’t have one problem with your dress.  You look fantastic. I hope I look as good as you when I grow up. However, while you were a strong influence in my youth and remain to this day as one of my singing idols, I was disappointed in your performance.  I wasn’t sure what all the hand spasms were about or was it just me? In fact, it kinda ruined the whole memorium for me.  If you had just come out and sung the song like normal without all the ad lib and awkward hand gestures, it would have sold me. Anyways, regardless, this is your free pass. I love you, and will always love you. You are the wind beneath my wings… and every other 35 year old girl who still cries when she watches Beaches at home on a Saturday night eating her Ben and Jerry’s softly rocking from side to side while singing The Glory of Love.  Yea, that’s me. I need to go on a diet.

Follow this link to see her performance and draw your own conclusions:

Goldie Hawn

Goldie Hawn

My funny buddy Dusty summed this caption up perfectly:

“Goldie always looks like she just got home from a party.”

… yea.. at the botox/plastic surgeon clinic.  But hey! Who cares! You’re Goldie Hawn.  Do whatchoowant.

June Squibb

June Squibb

You look divine June.  So regal and the color suits you.  I cannot wait to see Nebraska.  Bruce Dern is such a favorite and the clips I’ve seen of you in Nebraska tell me I’m going to love you too.  Congrats on your nomination!! You’re beautiful—as far as I am concerned you can have a free pass from me any time.

Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep

Distinguished, classy, lovely lady of mine.  You are the epitome of elegance and grace.  You’re the best in your craft and it is only matched by your unparalleled beauty and humility.   Keep on keepin’ on.

Bringin’ the Wonk

Anna Kendrick

Anna Kendrick

I look forward to seeing good things from you in the acting world.  This dress …. Yuck.  The see through crap and the weird midriff.  You are a gorgeous, talented lady who does not need to show your midriff.  Leave that to Britney.  She has to do that.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway

“YOU THERE! WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION!?”   …. Seriously… what is it?  Cuz by the looks of it we need to give the creators of 300 a little call for a screen test for you in the next sequel.  You take yourself way too seriously.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron

Charlize De Vil, Cruella’s younger sister from Jersey Shore.

Julie Delpy

Julie Delpy the FAN

She looks like fan. See?

Kelly Ripa

Kelly Ripa

I’m gonna blame this on the angle.. but two words.  Ribs and Spanx.  I love Kelly Ripa and think she is Wonder Woman.  I worry though.

Kristen Chinoweth

Kristen Chenoweth

She literally looks like the Oscar Trophy. Either that or she looks like a golden mermaid keychain.  I miss her long hair.

Liza Minnelli

Liza Minnelli

THE QUEEN OF THE WONK.  Who can do the wonk and almost make it classy?  Liza can.  Almost.

Ok.. maybe not. The blue hair is fun tho!

Sally Hawkins

Sally Hawkins

YIKES.  One of the UGLIEST dresses I have ever seen in my whole life, henceforth, forever more, AMEN.  Fire your stylist Mayim Bialik!

The Bleep Bloop Blahp

These gowns are all TOTAL snoozefests.  I don’t know if it’s the neutral color  of all of these dresses or what.. but nothing about these dresses tickle my “oooooo—wowwweeeee” bone.

The Bleep

Gold with long sleeves

Angelina Jolie …Really?  This was what you said yes to? I will say it’s nice to see you smiling. THAT is what looks good on you.   Sarah Paulson, you look bored… zzzzzz

short sleeved

Calista Flockhart — Eeeeeeeeesh. Not a fan.  Maria Menounos, you were on my best dressed how many times?  I like your hair though. Naomi Watts, yuck hair and yuck tshirt dress.

The Blahp

white strapless

Laura Dern—I really love you.  I REALLY REALLY love your dad.  SO brilliant.  The dress is pretty.. I just wish it was a different color, honestly.  The color makes it so blah.  Tara Lapinski – meh. Prom at best.  And Jessica Biehl, you look washed out … You’re such a pretty gal and I wish you would wear some color against your gorgeous hair and skin tone.

The Tasteful but not too flashy

Jennifer Garner (a.k.a my husband’s not so secret crush)

I’m not crazy about this dress. But it doesn’t deserve to be in the worst dress or my Bleep Bloop Blahp section apparently. I love Jennifer Garner. If only she could meet me I know we would bond, have playdates with our kids and drink Starbucks together. That said, she wasn’t up for an award. So it makes sense to be classy but not too flashy. I’m just not crazy about the flapper kinda style.  My husband sweetly disagrees because he is in love with her. Therefore, this section is in honor of him.

Adell Nazeem

Indina Menzel

Ok ok…. the hiccup heard across the world.  John Travolta had one job to do and he messed it up.  On the upside, I thought it was super funny and random.  I am a huge Idina Menzel fan. Ever since her days in Rent on Broadway she has captivated me.  However, I wasn’t crazy about her dress – again not a worst dressed—but not a homerun either.  Also, maybe it was because John Travolta got all wacky and pronounced her name wrong, but her performance was off—and annoying.  And over exaggerated.  Which lately, all of her performances since her Wicked days seem to be that way.  Even on Glee.  In any case, any vocalist can learn from her—she definitely has made her mark in singing history— however,  I am not into her screeching/belting out method any more.  Just doesn’t do it for me.  It started to go downhill for me when she bobbled on Defying Gravity at the Tony’s when she won (which was an AMAZING performance… did you guys see that back in the day? Joy I know you and Anna were there! So jealous!!). I could hear it in her voice then.. and I hear it now… she’s gonna get nodes if she keeps it up.  Drink some water, quit screeching.  Remember, quality and intensity versus decibels.  Say it with me…Quality and intensity versus decibels.  Sorry, I watch way too much Dora the Explorer. I figure if repeating works for my 2 year old, it will work for you.  Still, I love you.  I just want you to have your voice when you grow up.  🙂

Follow this link to see her incredible performance and draw your own conclusions:

I’d much rather see this performance.. BRAVO!!!

4. Ashley Wagner

Ashley Wagner

Alrighty, I get it.  You are gonna go for the gold in four years.  Not here at the Oscars. Hate this dress and your hair.  You were fantastic in Sochi (however…… complaining about the ice skating judging does nothing for your image regardless of how much you meant it with good intentions)  You are a badass and you are fearless on the ice.  Don’t lose sight of that.  With that said, lose the dress and find something else… and THE RED LIPSTICK.  YES.  I’m talking to you and to GRACIE GOLD! #overit  See you in four years—congrats on your job well done representing the most fantastic and awesome nation ever! GO TEAM USA!

On a complete SOCHI sidenote .. I love Sage Kotsenburg.  I want to be his best friend. Congrats on your gold medal buddy!!!!!  Next time you are in Ohio I’ll buy you a beer or a coffee or whateva.

3. Emma Watson

Gwynnie got to you didn’t she?  Yuck.  At least you’re not sagging like your style mentor. You’re Emma frickin’ Watson. You can do this. You are such a delight.  Wow me next time. I have my eye on you. I know you can do this!! One day you are going to be up there accepting your Oscar. I know it.

2.  Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts

You were a nominee this year and you chose that?  Man, when you won your Oscar it was one of my most FAVORITE gowns in OSCAR history!  You are one of the peeps that I cannot wait to see.  I don’t know.  Between you and Angelina, I’m a little concerned with where the gowns are headed in your future.  I don’t like it.  Also, I don’t like the updo.  You have such gorgeous hair.  I miss it. I miss your fun style.

1.  Viola Davis

Viola Davis

I love me some Viola Davis.  But this gown ain’t doin’ it for me.  I do love the classic coif.  I’m just not feeling the color.  I do love the bracelets though.

All of these ladies deserve a shout-out.  Nice effort and you look lovely (Lady Gaga, nice to see you in something so glamorous and old Hollywood style.)

Jada Pinkett Smith, Lady Gaga and Rachel Smith

Gabourey Sidibe and Glenn Close

Glenn you are a little funeralish for me but you are a legend so you get a pass for that. You still look fab.  Gabby, you are such a star.  You were ferocious in AHS season 3!!!  Bravo!!   More more!!  This is probably my favorite gown you have ever worn.  I love it.  And I love the COLOR!!!

86th Annual Academy Awards - Show

She is perfectly dressed for such a beautiful tribute.  To see how to wow a crowd with your voice and how to dress to impress, click the link below and watch Pink.  The ONLY thing I have against this performance is the fact that she breaks the word “OVER” in the phrasing.. kind of an odd choice, but it didn’t ruin it for me.  She’s a powerful vocalist and a true performer.

Here it is……. BEST DRESSED for the OSCARS 2014!!!!!!!

10.  Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence

LOOK AT YOU! Such a little starlet! So beautiful (I hate the CORAL color) but I do love you and I love the dress. You look perfect.  You pull off that color very nicely.

9.  Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson

Honey, you are it.  I love pretty much everything you put on.  This gown was superb!

The hair, the cape! The clutch! OH MY!! I don’t even mind the neutral cream color!

8.  Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell

Some may say, “Hey, why isn’t she in your Bleep Bloop Blahp section”?  Simple answer.  It’s my blog and I love her.  She’s fantastic.  And unlike those other dresses, this has a little something extra.  I love the detail in the bodice and I love the jewels.  She’s delightful.  I love you Kristen.

7.  Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett

CONGRATS ON YOUR WIN!!!  I have to admit, I wasn’t pulling for you.  My Best Actress heart was pulling for another.  However, you look lovely.  I’m a fan.  Most of the time you have hits in your fashion and tonight is one of them.  Darling gown and beautiful hair.  Bravo!

6. Amy Adams

Amy Adams

I love love love this gown. You are such a class act.  How gorgeous you are.  The sleek figure and the detailed bust line.  Perfection.  You’re awesome.  And you know it.  Clap your hands.

5.  Matthew and Camila McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey and Camila

These two go together like PB & J.  Doesn’t she look like royalty?  I love the cape action she has going on and the champagne color.  I even dig Matthew’s white tux.  Congrats on your win.  As a fellow Longhorn (well.. by proxy of working there for 7 glorious years), I think I speak for the entire campus when I say “Hook ‘em! YOU MAKE TEXAS PROUD!!!”

4.  Kelly Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne

I am constantly impressed with you.  Seriously.  You have impressed me more times than not.  You look absolutely stunning.  The only piece of the puzzle that needs any tweeking (if at all) would be the purple hair.  But—I know that you are under contract for a little while longer with that so I will forgive you.  I do look forward to you being able to get rid of the purple hue though.  Regardless you look fantastic.

3.  Jenna Dewan-Tatum

Jenna Dewan-Tatum

A year ago, I would have HATED this dress.  But for some reason, I love it on Jenna.  She looks like one of those dancers in a jewelry box that pops up and plays.. you know the kind I’m talking about?  I don’t even mind the blah color.  It goes nice against her dark hair.  I think she looks pretty fab.

2.  Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock

Isn’t she lovely?  Some people absolutely dogged her in the critic circle.  I, however, found her dress to be totally refreshing and beautiful having this splash of color among so many who went with cream, white, off white.. bleep bloop blahp.  Getting back to Sandy.. her hair is AMAZING.  Look at it? She has Pantene Pro-V splashed all over those locks.  I ❤ her.  I loved GRAVITY.  OMG.  I love that film. So beautiful.  She was perfect.  She should have won. As much as I love Cate, Sandy should have won that award. Hands down.

Well folks.. here it is… she swept all of my lists as #1 this award season and I know she has moved her way right into everyone’s hearts after that beautiful acceptance speech.

Lupita Nyong'o

Sunday night was HER night. Love the color, love the headband, love the lipgloss, love the bracelet, I love EVERYTHING.  Did you see her acceptance speech?  People could learn a thing or two about humility from watching her acceptance speech.  Try not to cry when you watch it. I look forward to seeing SO MUCH more from you!!!

Click here to watch her accept her award!

Well, that’s it for this year folks.  I can’t wait for next time! Congrats to all the nominees and all the winners.  Jared Leto, your speech was truly inspiring.  So proud of you!   I will leave you with Ellen’s monologue.  She was absolutely brilliant and SO darn funny.  Love you Ellen!

Click here to watch Ellen’s monologue!

2014 Screen Actors Guild Awards Fashion Review!

23 Jan

Eesh.  I think the dresses at the SAG award were either REALLY REALLY awesome or just plain awful.

**copyright claim** all photos are courtesy of just about every single entertainment website on the internet.

We’ll start with the WORST DRESSED!

Betsy Brandt

Betsy Brandt

Cate Blanchett

I like the color and the dress in general.  BUT random pieces of fabric hanging with no rhyme or reason bothers me.  Maybe that’s why I’m not known for my fashion sense. (I’m still in my tank and yoga pants as I write this)

Claire Danes

This dress looks like an unfinished thought. To sparkle or not to sparkle.

Jane Krakowski

Is it just me or does this dress look like something out of Back to the Future pt. 2?

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Is it just me or are her boobs looking strange in this dress? Like the color but hate the weird chest action.    Congrats on your win though!

Julie Bowen

You were on my best dressed on my very first fashion review.  It’s taking a long time to climb out of that fashion hole you threw yourself into.  You have the potential. Realize it. Go back to the beginning and start from there.

Juliette Lewis

Are you imitating Lucy Liu from the 2013 Golden Globes?

Malin Akerman

Yuck.  At least it wasn’t the fun bag fallout dress!

Mayim Bialik

You actually said to yourself, “I’m gonna wear this to the SAG awards tonight.”  WOW. You keep topping yourself Mayim!  However, congrats on all your success.

 Sandra Bullock

Ms. Bullock .. you have graced my best dressed list many times and this is the first time I have to say that this dress…. it ain’t it.  I don’t like the bow on the side, I’m not wild about the fabric or the color… I pretty much just dont’ like it.  But I love you and I can’t wait to see what you wear to the Oscars this year!! Congrats on your win at the SAG awards!! xxoo

Flower Patterns

It’s like all these fine actresses coordinated their dresses or something.  I love them all and they get a pass for their ill-fated fashion attempt … but I don’t like flowers on dresses.

Rita Moreno

Rita Moreno

Emma Thompson

Helen Mirren

“I’m the new Christina Hendricks” Award.  Holy Boobies.

Ariel Winter

I love me some couple action. I love when they pose together and put on a unified front.  Love these peeps!

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sari Mercer

What a gorgeous couple. First time I saw Chiwetel was in Salt.  Can’t wait to see more from you buddy! Congrats on yours nominations!

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves

What a stunning couple.  I love love LOVE Camila’s gown.  What a beautiful color! Bravo!

  Justin Mikita and Jesse Tyler-Ferguson

Beautiful couple, beautiful people. I love the tuxes – perfect.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

Always a stand out couple.  I love Rita’s dresses.  She is always such a class act.

Undecided …. but definitely peeked my interest!

Abigail Breslin

I think you are on the right track and I love the shoulder jacket with sparkle.  I’m going to be watching you.

Amy Adams

I love the color Amy! So bold and just lovely.  I can’t decide if I like the cut of the chest/shoulder or not.  Either way, it’s not a total win but it’s not a total loss either.  You look gorgeous.

Natalie Dormer

You are so interesting to me.  I’m loving you on The Tudors and I really like you in Game of Thrones.  This dress fits your personality (without me knowing what your personality is actually like… HAHA). I love the sleeves.. they are interesting.

Bringin’ the Wonk… aye… WON-KAY!

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts collage

I thought this was a dress at first. And I liked it (minus the horrible color). … then I saw it was a jumpsuit??? Yikes.  Wonky to say the least.

Kerry Washington

I’m all about being proud of your bump. I don’t normally comment negatively on any preggo lady.  However, I will say I have never been crazy about your fashion choices….

Honorable Mention

Kaley Cuoco

kaley-cuoco-sag-awards-2014You always end up on the good end of my lists.  Not a best dressed this time, but you know what works and what doesn’t.  I love your hair too.

Mindy Kaling

Very nice! This dress looks beautiful on you.  Needs to be hemmed, but other than that the dress is lovely.  Your hair though… yikes.  Brush it.

Nancy O’Dell

I hate sleeves on gowns with the exception of Kate Middleton’s wedding dress (which is a rule when you are married in the Westminster Abbey).  I love this dress and the color and surprisingly don’t mind the sleeves.

And Ta-Dahhhhhh!  THE BEST DRESSED YA’LL!!!!!

10. Anna Gunn

FINALLY!  I’ve been waiting for you to make my best dressed.  I haven’t liked anything you have worn until now and I KNEW YOU could do it.  Bravo.  I love the sparkle, the color and the halter top. Keep it up.

9. Maria Menounos

How elegant! I love the color and the bodice.  So beautiful!

8.  Sofia Vergara

Ugh. I’m so jealous of you and annoyed by you. But, you dress to kill and I’m willing to recognize it.  Can you send your stylist over to Mayim Bialik? She needs help. ASAP.

7. Sarah Paulson

You look like you are ready for tea and cake.  Go on, have some. You’ve earned it.

6.  Sarah Hyland

You know, I’ve been watching you for a long time. You look so sophisticated and beautiful.  Delicious. Perfect choice. I’m noticing that champagne is a popular color this year.  For good reason, it goes with almost everyone…. in my opinion of course… remember, I have absolutely no training or license to really critique fashion other than I am just an overly opinionated, frumpy, musician, stay at home mom.

5. Oprah Winfrey

Heck yea– Oprah, you rock. Perfect color. Love the neck and the flower, and I dig the curls.

4.  Jennifer Garner

You are always so well put together.  I love the color and the waist.  You are unstoppable!

jennifer-garner3. Kelly Osbourne

LOVE the color.  Love the cut and fit of the dress. LOVE the fabric and the detail. I love the shoulders.  I’m done with the purple hair though. I know you are under contract, but sheesh.  Time for a change.

kelly-osbourne2. Jennifer Lawrence

YES YES YES YES!! I love love love this dress!!! OMG.  I love this dress. I would wear this. I totally would. If I looked like you.  Your stylist is earning his/her pay this year.

and… here it is…….

1. Lupita N’yongo

WOW.  This chick is fierce and ridiculously beautiful.  I am loving her gowns.  She was my number one at the Golden Globes and she’s my #1 here. I absolutely LOVE the color. I love the detail.  I love the make up.. You are so beautiful! I can’t wait to see what you wear to the Oscars.  Congrats on your win lady!

Remember, these opinions are just my own and have no weight in the world.  However, if anyone wants to pay me the big bucks to write silly fashion reviews, I’m totally down.  We’re halfway thru award season ya’ll!  Next stop…. The Grammys on Sunday January 26th on CBS!  Can’t wait!

2014 Golden Globes Fashion Review!

18 Jan

Well well well… We are in full swing for the 2014 Award Season.  I ❤ Tina Fey and Amy Poehler!

Loved the opening monologue.  If you missed it, play it below!

Alright.. fashion fashion fashion!!  It was a night full of beautiful preggo ladies, metallic fabrics, wildly-out-of-control bows, fashion risks that came, saw, and failed…. and won. Lets hop to it.

**copyright claim** all photos are courtesy of just about every single entertainment website on the internet.

Where shall we start?  Hmm.  We will start on a positive note.

Preggo beauties

I have a soft spot for anyone who is pregnant and on the public stage.  It’s hard enough creating life 24/7 much less have to wear something in public that makes you feel and look beautiful.  These ladies succeeded in every way.

Drew Barrymore.

She looks absolutely lovely. Pregnancy looks good on her.

Drew Barrymore

Kerry Washington

My favorite part of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s opening was when they addressed Kerry being pregnant and looked into the camera to say “Scandal!” So funny.

Kerry Washington

Olivia Wilde

Pregnancy hotness.  She looks fab.

Olivia Wilde

A for Sincerity and Mad Respect for these ladies

I am blinded by love for these ladies, I could care less what they wear. I ❤ them.

Helen Mirren

Ever since Excalibur, I have absolutely adored this lady.  Such a beauty, inside and out.

Helen Mirren

Jessica Lange

It’s no secret that I long to be Jessica’s best friend.  My husband loves her, I love her. She just keeps getting better.

Jessica Lange

Lily Rabe

I. Love. Her.  She is one of the most interesting actresses I have seen in a long time. I cannot wait to see what other projects she takes on. Creepy Nicks forever!

Lily Rabe

Most Improved

Julianna Margulies

Julianna Margalies

Beautiful. Almost a best dressed, but not there yet.  HOWEVER, so much better than the curtain pocket fiasco from the 2012 Emmys

Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham

Well done. Well done. Well done! You keep getting better and better! This dress is fun.  The color is cheerful and you look so happy.  So cute.  So proud. It’s very classic and old Hollywood-ish.

Julie BowenJulie Bowen

Meh. I don’t love it. but.. meh.  It’s an improvement from what you wore LAST TIME!

Mayim Bialik
Mayim Bailik

SUCH a huge improvement from THIS and THIS!  I’m not a fan of the long sleeves BUT considering that’s all you ever wear, I will say this is my favorite out of the recent gowns you have worn to awards shows. Your make up looks fantastic– so fresh and natural.  VERY nice.

Actually, just an afterthought.  Though it is an improvement, I just want to say, I hate sheer crap.

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum

Finally!!!!  To be honest every time you walk down the Red Carpet I almost cringe. This time though, you were spot on in your gown decision.  No weird neck collars, no high slits to show Seal what he’s missing and no deep cleavage to show those fun bags of yours.

Emma Watson Emma Watson

Uh, I don’t even know what to say. I wish she could just wear what Hermione wore in the movies. I thinks he also took a cue from Whoopi on what to wear at awards show.

Blah.  So very blah.

Amy Adams
Amy Adams

Meh, it’s not a horrible dress.  However, I’m not a fan of the deep dramatic J-LO circa 2000 cleavage style.  I love your hair and make up though.  Congrats on accepting your golden globe on the 15 anniversary of your move to LA!  You’re one of my favorite actresses, just not one of my favorite gowns tonight. I love you still though.

Alison Williams

Alison Williams

At least it’s not a bridesmaid dress like the last time.

Monica Potter

Monica Potter

Love the hair.  Hate the dress. Looks like my great grandma’s gold and black curtains.

Caitlin Fitzgerald

Caitlin Fitzgerald

The Stepford Wive’s award goes to you! Interesting fabric though.

Taylor Schilling

Taylor Schilling

Love the color.  Love the hair.  Love the make up.  Love YOU. Love your show.   HATE the dress.  Also, you should consider hemming the front.

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts

It’s not a bad dress.  I was just looking for more.  I’m bored.  It also looks like a random shirt tucked into a strapless dress.  Meh. Doesn’t work for me.

Kristin Chenowith

Kristin Chenowith

Yuck.  Don’t like the color. Don’t like the sleeves. Super boring.  The front of the dress reminds me of Hilary Swanks dress from the 2005 Oscars.

Camilla Alves

Camilla Alves

I love sequins and everything that is shiny.  However, I hate long sleeves.  I don’t like the cut of the dress on the top half. It looks awkward.  Which is really weird because she is a beautiful lady and I would think it would be hard to find anything that would look awkward on her.  BUT there ya go.   Congrats to Matthew for his Golden Globe win and his Oscar nomination!

Dianne Wiest

Dianne Wiest

You are such a lady and I ❤ you. Beautiful choice.  I love the detail, I love the neckline.  Love it.  One of my favorites of the night.

Elizabeth Moss

Elizabeth Moss

This is actually a fun little number. I don’t like your hair, but your make up and your shoes go perfectly with your gown.  Nice job.

PS.  Don’t think I didn’t notice the sheer part on the bottom of the skirt.  Get rid of that and you would have made my best dressed.  Just sayin.

Robin Wright

Robin Wright

I totally saw your sideboob during your acceptance speech. Congrats on your win and congrats on your engagement to Ben Foster! Hotness!

Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis

You don’t look very happy.  In fact, you look annoyed. I like the flow of the skirt and the color.   However, that bow thing is a little much.

Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman

I found this dress to be very interesting.  I love the halter top and accenting your awesome arms. I’m not sure if i like the train or not.  Either way you look like a perfect statuesque lady which makes me completely jealous of you.

Gabourey Sidibe

Gabourey Sidibe

Rock on lady.  Rock on.  You are one of my favorites of the night. AND one of my favorites on Coven.

Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson

You always look like you are a little girl who secretly wants a lollipop but does not  have enough courage to ask.  Is it true? If so, you can have one. You’re brilliant.

Bows, WHOAS and OH NOS!

I hate bows. I hate random parts cut out of dresses. I also hate long sleeves.  I hate short dresses at awards shows.  I also hate busy prints that makes me dizzy.

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler

Uh… it was a great dress up until that random hole in your dress.  Stupid decision on the designer’s part.

Edie Falco

Edie Falco

I hate the color and I hate the freakin’ bow.  She looks like a Christmas present. Is it just me or does the material in the front tailored wonky?

Emma Thompson

Emma Thompson

Love you. Hate the sleeves.

Greta Gerwig

Greta Gerwig

This reminds me of the horrible dress Zooey Deschanel wore previously to the 2012 Emmy Awards.

Jacqueline Bisset

Jacqueline Bisset

Congrats on winning… however, not feeling your dress. It looks like a choice from 1989.

Lizzy Caplan

Lizzy Caplan

Long sleeves and random cut outs.  Nope.

Megan Mullaly

Megan Mullaly

Actually this dress is kinda fun.  But unless you are Anne Shirley or timewarped from the 1980s, don’t wear puff sleeves or floaties. Also i miss your dark hair.

Paula Patton

Paula Patton

WTF. WTF.  I don’t get it. I really don’t. Ugliest dress I have EVER seen in my whole entire life and that includes all the horrible prom dresses I saw at my prom in 1997.

Taissa Farmiga

Taissa Farmiga

I really like you.  Such a pretty girl and a fantastic talent. Choose something longer and a different color. Kinda washed out in my opinion.

Tina Fey

Tina Fey

How quickly they fall. You were on my best dressed last year. This year, not so much. It’s cute but the print is annoying.

Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana

OH NO.  Just NO.  Busy print, sheer crap.  Count me out she says.

And … here we are.  The best dressed of the night.

15. Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett

What a lovely, classic dress.  I absolutely love the detail, length and neckline of this gown. Perfection.

14. Julia Louis-Dreyfuss

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss

So awesomely cool.  Fits like a glove and looks fabulous. I usually hate coral.. but it works here.

13. Sosie Bacon.  MS. GOLDEN GLOBE.

Sosie Bacon

How gorgeous is she? What a beautiful dress and especially the color!  The detail is great. Love her makeup and her hair.

12. Kaley Cuoco

Kaley Cuoco

It’s no secret that I hate prints.  However, I love the way this dress looks like a painting. Perfect length and neckline.   Congrats on your recent nuptials!

11. Maria Menounos

Maria Menounos

Ms. Menounos is a constant fixture on my best dressed.  I love the pink, I love the design, I love the shoulder caps and neckline and I love the hem and train.  Love it all.

10. Laura Dern

Laura Dern

WOOOOO!  Lady you are a sexy minx.  How could Ben Harper ever let you go? Well done.  And congrats to your Pop!  He’ll always be my favorite neighbor in The ‘Burbs!

9. Nancy O’Dell

Nancy O'Dell

This is another dame who is on my Best Dressed a lot.  She knows what looks good on her and she uses that knowledge to wear something fierce. What a gorgeous color for her!  I love the detail on the neck. The fabric is beautiful. What does it say that a Entertainment Reporter dresses better than most of the stars that she interviews?

8. Michelle Dockery

Michelle Dockery

Way to go Ms. Dockery! Absolutely adore this gown.  So fancy and elegant.  The color melts so wonderfully against the color of your skin too.  Bravo!

PS.  I still hate your show. Boring!

7. Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale

You look like the most beautiful silver mermaid!  I think you’re so beautiful.  I need another Underworld movie! Get back to it!

6. Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon

YES YES YES.  Love the dress. Love the color. Love the nails.  Love the hair.  Love YOU.

5. Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock

Fun. Flirty. And so GIRLY. ❤

4. Jenna Dewan-Tatum

Jenna Dewan-Tatum

Look at this dress.  She reminds me of Elizabeth Hurley.  I know Jenna is an actress (She was the chick who got to make out with Adam Levine at the beginning of the second season of American Horror Story). However, she was made on the red carpet while on the arm of her man, Channing.  She keeps dressing and impressing!

3. Emma Roberts

Emma Roberts

Sweet Emma is making a name for herself. She is most definitely not just “Julia Roberts’ niece” anymore.  What a fine choice for the Golden Globes. Keep it up!  (it’s too bad Julia didn’t follow her lead)

2. Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara

I don’t normally put her on my lists because.. well, she annoys me and I think she is overly saturated in the industry.  However, I cannot ignore how glorious this gown is.  What a dress! What a necklace!

Who’s my #1 Best Dressed???

Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong'o

How amazing and REGAL! LOVE the neckline and the cape/train.  OMG.  I am in love with this dress. What a queen!  Congrats on your nomination!

That’s it!  Stay tuned for the SAG awards! …. hopefully I’ll get it done a little sooner!  ❤

Mama and Papa Movie Review: Pacific Rim

20 Oct

Star Rating:  2 stars
(for Star Rating key: https://madtimemama.wordpress.com/mama-and-papa-movie-reviews/)

I’ve been working on this review since we watched it last night. I couldn’t come up with the words of what I truly think of this movie.  We were walking through our local Wal Mart this morning and saw this… I think it sums up my feelings perfectly.

Good move, buddy.

2013 Emmy Awards Fashion Review

27 Sep

Hooray!  Award season is back and in full swing! I ❤ award shows and the evening gowns that come out of hiding.  I was hoping to get this posted a lot sooner than I have.. but I’ve had two croupy kids over the weekend plus a new music project that is getting off the ground so life has been busy.  BUT that doesn’t stop fashion from moving forward. So lets get to it.

What are some of my general opinions? I was impressed from some unlikely characters and overall impressed with a lot of peeps.  Some I was annoyed with, some looked like they were ready to be a part of a bridal party and I STILL don’t understand WHAT is going on with the trend of see through fabric and strategic and not so strategic cut outs on perfectly beautiful dresses. Oy.

**copyright claim** all photos are courtesy of just about every single entertainment website on the internet.

Here we go…

We’ll start with those who thought they were going to prom.

Carrie Underwood

You are a beautiful gal who is stuck in a rut.  Lets change it up a bit, shall we? Would be great to see you in something other than a strapless prom gown with side swept hair. You still looked pretty tho and you are still one of my faves in the vocalist world, though I didn’t dig your version of “Yesterday.”

Melissa Rauch

I don’t know much about you other than you were on True Blood, but you would fit perfectly in a flashback in one of Molly Ringwald’s brat pack movies.  Maybe this was the look you were trying to go for?

Alyson Hannigan

Seriously.  What is up with the prom theme.  Am I missing something?  And why are they all purple?  I like purple just as much as the next person but all strapless, promlike fabrics and styles?  Hm.

Whoa now… New fashion for bridesmaids straight from the red carpet

Allison Williams

Blah.  Boring. Do you agree?  You’re a pretty girl Alli. Buck up or go home!

Elizabeth Moss

This chick fascinates me.  Kind of like but not as extreme as Chloe Sveigny. She’s a tad bit on the weird side.  I don’t like this dress though.  I don’t like the wrinkly textured skirt or the strapless look for her. And why does she always smile as if she has a secret?

Merritt Wever

Despite the fact that this is a a bit of a bridesmaid dress, I think this was a lovely choice for this lady. It compliments her and her personality I think . BTW, her acceptance speech was adorable.  You’ve come a long way since being a homicidal wife on NCIS.  Very proud of you.

Cat Deely

#SoYouThinkYouCanDressYourSelf  #You’reWrong

Padma Lakshima

You went from best dressed last year to wonky dressed this year.  What’s the point of the ill-fitting side slit and the smirk?

Rose Byrne

Mindy Kaling

While I still hate cut outs on dresses, this might be the exception.

Julianne Hough

If this dress was only shorter, she would look like she was doing a freestyle skate at an ice skating exhibition. I love the fall off the shoulders caps and the material.. but I absolutely HATE the see through. I don’t want to see through ANYTHING.

Leslie Mann

This would be a COOOOOOOOL gown if it didn’t have… yep, you guessed it.

Lena Headey

Love. This. Actress.  She’s awesome in pretty much everything she is in.  300, Game of Thrones, Dredd (OMG. She was AWESOME in that). Why must she follow in trends? Blaze your own trail darling. You can do it.  I expect more. Just say no to your stylist… or yourself if that’s the case.

Heidi Klum

I can’t decide on this one.  Thoughts?

It’s certainly better than last year.. but I don’t know. I can’t put my finger on it.

Do you like Heidi’s dress?

Connie Britton

You are Rayna freakin’ Jaymes! You don’t need to be wearing someone’s living room drapes, honey!  However, I applaud you for going down your own path. And I applaud you for having a kick ass show. I ❤ Nashville!

Emilia Clarke

Eesh.  You are a dragon! You’re killing me here!  I still love you.  Act like the Khaleesi you are!!  This ain’t it.

Kate Mara

#I’mSoMysterious  #NotReally

Kristen Connolly

Hate it.

Paula Abdul

Lena Dunham

I don’t like floral prints, so you are going to get a low grade just for that.  However, I don’t think it’s necessarily repulsive.  I don’t get it though and I don’t get the eye make up.  You are a pretty girl. C’mon… wow me.  Last year you were a sad pony in a navy blue doily and this year you are a deer in headlights wearing a kitchen curtain.  I’m still holding out hope for you this season but .. to be honest, I’m almost done with you. ( On a lighter note, I still haven’t seen Girls and I DESPERATELY want to.  CANNOT WAIT to start that show!)

Vera Famiga

Mayim Bialik

I’m now comfortable saying that we just will never agree (eesh.. last year?).  Not on colors, styles, material, details… it’s just he way it is… tho your hair looks lovely.

Kerry Washington

You are supposed to be the best dressed woman in the world.  Jeepers.  At least your hair is not what it was last year……. It takes effort m’ lady.  Lets see it.

Zosia Mamet

I need to talk to all the Girls cast apparently.  Call me.  #JustSayNoToFloralPrints

Here it is folks! If you have made it through the riff and the raff… here’s my top 10!!!!

10.   Julia Louis Dreyfus

Beautiful.  Perfect color with her skin and hair.  I love it.

9. Julie Bowen

YES!  This is Hollywood Glamour, folks.  All you wannabes, take note. Good color, details and classy.

However…. May I ask WTF is up with your hair Ms. Bowen?  Everytime you have a knock out dress, your hair looks like a hot mess.  It’s disappointing.

8. Danielle Brooks

I personally hate orangish/coral looking frocks.  HOWEVER, this is a gorgeous number on Ms. Brooks. Super sexy, super fitting and perfectly accented in all the right places.  ❤

7. Malin Akerman

This chick is so interesting to me. I really hope the best for her and look forward to seeing her in more movies. Love the hair, love the gown, LOVE LOVE LOVE.

6. Jessica Lange

Hollywood Royalty. Such a distinctive dress.  Gorgeous hair.. I CANNOT WAIT for the start of American Horror Story!

5. Margo Martindale

Such a lady.  A shining example of a class act.  Love the hair, love the color, love the whole package. Love Margo!

4. Maria Menounos

This gal is consistently on my list (here and here).  She just knows what looks good, how to style her hair and how to pose.  She’s a red carpet goddess. I love the choice of necklace too.

3. Cobie Smulders

One of my favorite Shield Agents! Such a fancy little number.  It’s simple, elegant and perfectly shaped to her body.  I wish it wasn’t wrinkled towards the bottom.. this being said from someone who doesn’t even own an iron (or maybe I don’t know where it is… or worse, maybe I just hid it and live in wrinkle denial.. in any case, I’m not in any position to judge… however, I’m human, so I do).

2. Anna Chlumsky

Such a lovely detailed gown. The color is perfect, and her hair is perfectly tousled.

Here it is…

#1 Linda Cardinelli

This is Hollywood Top Tier Fashion in my book.  Such a beautiful color with her hair and the … whatever you call it ruffles down her gown.  I love it.  So fun. And elegant.  And pretty.  And I love it. Super neat.

Yes.  Sofia Vergara was very pretty. But she and her boobies have really oversaturated the scene the last couple of years.  YES.  Christina Hendricks was … alright. But again, I’m annoyed by her boobs and how they are always a centerpiece (bah-dum-dum).  Switch it up a bit folks. That’s all I ask.

Who was your favorite?

The Oscars 2013 FASHION REVIEW!!! It’s here!

2 Mar

Oscar time.

FIRST OFF.  I’m a vocalist and performer so let me just say that although Ms. Zeta-Jones is a wonderful actress and my father is in love with you, if you are going to perform, don’t lip sync. (Or at least try a little harder…. yea.. we noticed).  Jennifer Hudson, you are so inspiring. Bravo. Les Mis cast….. uh….. I was embarrassed for you (besides Hugh and Samantha– ya’ll were great… but that’s because you all are broadway vets).  Did anyone else cringe towards the end of their little performance??? Oh man, I just kept closing my eyes hoping it was over soon to save their embarrassment. Eesh.

Second, Seth MacFarlane…. you are RUTHLESS.  And you are kinda cute when you know you’ve been bad.  hee hee  Bravo. Haven’t had that much fun since Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes. Although, Tina and Amy did great too. Awesome touch in including Bill Shatner in your opening number.  LOOOOOOVE me some Bill Shatner.

Now…. for the fashion. I know you’re ready.  So am I.

Lets start with the fellas.

Jason Schwartzman

jason schwartzman

I ❤ mustaches.  I get this guy.  He’s awesome.

Chris Pine

chris pine

Though I’m not crazy about the scruff.. you are such a delicious specimen of a man.  Perfect cast as James T. Kirk.  PERFECTION.

Hugh Jackman

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Is there anything this man can’t do?  Including looking great with rotted teeth in Les Mis?

Bradley Cooper

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
The COOP!!  I’ve been a fan of this dude since he was in Alias as Will.  Then when he was in A-Team…. shoo wee!! Good looking dude.  I’m so proud of him.  You can honestly see him grow as an actor in every film that he’s in.  Congrats on that nomination and I have no doubt you will have your own Oscar soon!!

Daniel Day Lewis

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
Do you remember Last of the Mohicans?  He was BRILLIANT in that film.  When he looked at Madeleine Stowe and said “I will find you!”   … oh, I melt.  He reminds me of my husband.  THAT is yummy.  My husband is yummy.  Mr. Day Lewis is yummy.  It’s a win-win. Congrats on your win Danny!!!  ❤ you!

Jeremy Renner

jeremy renner
Doesn’t Jeremy look like a bashful toddler in this picture?? hee hee

The Coopers!

coopersBradley brought his Mama!  Love it. Is she wearing tennis shoes?  My kind of Mama.

George Clooney and Stacy Kiebler

George Clooney and Stacy Kiebler

Setting a world record.  I can’t decide if they look good together or not.  Meh.

Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton

helena and tim

Birds of a feather….. (And  I love them both) Sorry about your arm Tim.

The Jackmans

jackmansThe sexiest thing about Hugh Jackman is not his ability to completely slay every role he’s ever in (even the stinkers he’s great!).  It’s how he constantly shows us how much he loves his wife.  He absolutely adores her and talks about her all the time.  SO sexy.

The Tatums

So adorable.  Congrats on the bump! 🙂

zzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz… oh sorry… what were you wearing?  I didn’t necessarily had any issue with these dresses.  HOWEVER, they are completely boring and not interesting at all.

Giuliana Rancic

Giuliana Rancic
Meh.  It’s ok.  It’s actually pretty nice for someone who judges other people’s fashion choices.  You know?  It’s not flashy, and it’s forgettable.  One thing that REALLY bothers me about her look is that she looks greasy.  Her hair looks HORRIBLE and stringy. THIS IS THE OSCARS!!!!!!  Try please!

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston
You know, this dress is actually REALLY great– boring and a bit bridesmaidish.. but great.  It’s really beautiful. The color suits her (although I hate it and would NEVER where this color). Here’s the million dollar question and I feel as if I am not alone in this….. WHY didn’t she do something with her hair?  Is everyone else kinda bored with her whole long layered look?

Renee Zellweger

renee zellweger
What is with the fascination with these gorgeous ladies wanting to make their hair look like a grease pit?  Renee is one of my favorites. I love her– she’s also from Texas and I love all things Texas.  Her dress from the 2001 Oscars will make my all time favorite list someday.  She has the ability to pick AWESOME gowns.  C’mon!  You’re killing me here Renee!  Not a good color at all.  In fact there is a lack of color here.  This is my favorite dress she has ever worn to the Oscars… THIS is an Oscar dress ———->  Click Here.

Samantha Barks

Samantha Barks
You are a FANTASTIC vocalist.  By far the best next to Hugh in the whole Les Mis debacle.  I love this dress but it’s missing color on the lips, eyes, necklace…. something… I need a splash of color or it makes me fall asleep– no matter how much non-cleavage you show.

Nancy O’Dell

Nancy O'dell

When this gal  gets a good dress she knocks it out of the park.  She looks GREAT in all shades of cool colors.  This is a gorgeous gown.  Although I typically vomit on those who do the high slit thing, I think Nancy rocks this whole look with class.  I love absolutely EVERYTHING about this dress.  Hair, shoes, fit of the dress, color, make up and neckline… gorgeous.  She looks better than most of the nominees!!! HA!

Meh, at least you tried folks.

Jacki Weaver

Jacki Weaver
I just don’t like it.  Nope.  Not at all. Not even a little.

Kelly Ripa

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
Floral prints?  NO THANKS. You need to have a discussion about that with my opera professor.

Kelly Rowland

Seriously?  I don’t like the wink-wonk booby action.  I don’t like the high slit. BUT I do like the hair, makeup and earrings.  Well done on that. The dress.. meh.

Olivia Munn

Olivia Munn

I like the corset, but the curtain wrap at the bottom doesn’t do anything for this dress.

Salma Hayek

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
I miss her in color. Is it just me or does she remind ya’ll of Liz Taylor in Cleopatra?  I’m not sure if that’s the look she was going for, but that’s what it looks like to me.

I love this woman.

Helena Bonham Carter

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals
She’s such a hot mess and she looks good doing it.  I adore this woman.

Most Improved Award

Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington

Sweet Kerry Washington!  You are beautiful!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for not wearing something like this —>  Click here   or this —–> Click Here.  Well done!

Not a good idea.

Tabtiha Coffey

Tabatha Coffey
Eesh.  Did a plastic black swan sacrifice itself to make that dress?  I dig the gloves.. kinda a throwback to hollywood glamour but you are being far from glamorous here in my opinion.

Jane Fonda

jane fonda

You know, my favorite role you ever played was on 9 to 5.  Best role by far. This dress?  You look like a banana.  You’re Jane Fonda!  WHY???????

Halle Berry

halle berry
I’m a fan of Star Trek, and this outfit would be perfect on there … not on the red carpet.  Also… shoulder pads?? REALLY?  WHY ARE YOU BRINGING BACK SHOULDER PADS??????

Kristin Stewart

K-Stew, I’m speaking directly to you.  Please brush your hair. Please do something with other than flipping it from side to side . Why couldn’t you have worn the wedding dress from Breaking Dawn Pt. 1?  It didn’t have to be white.. it could’ve been any color and still look better than how you look in this dress.  BLAGH I say.

Amy Adams

Amy Adams
It’s crazy how one dress will look horrible on one person (Amy) and the how it will look great on another.. it’s like a whole other dress on Kaley Cuoco, see?

Melissa McCarthy

melissa mccarthy

Sweet Melissa!  You are a beautiful lady and have nothing to be ashamed of.  I’ve seen you knock frocks out of the park.  SeeSee? See?   This was an off night for you … I am CERTAIN you won’t make this mistake again. Hit up Octavia’s stylist if you need suggestions.  Mm’KK?

Brandi Glanville

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Seriously??? This isn’t the Adult Film Awards.  She makes the Oscars look cheap… eh eh?  (ps. she “designed this dress” ….. wow, what a waste of time!)

“We Miss the Seal days AWARD”

Heidi Klum

She didn’t go to the Oscars.. but she went to the after party.  This is what she wore.  Yup. We miss when she was just a super model mom of four and the wife of Seal.

Jennifer Hudson

jennifer hudson
Didn’t she just blow everyone outta of their seats with her performance?  Such a powerhouse.  If you missed it, you can see a clip of it here!    Not a fan of this dress.. but I LOOOOOVED the one she performed in.  THAT is what I’m talking about— sparkly, sexy and fits like a glove.

Kelly Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne

I like the dress. I don’t like it on her.  I really don’t like it with the purple hair. Need a color change.

Kristin Chenowith

Kristin Chenowith

I love this chick.  She’s pretty much one of the strongest, best vocalists around.  And she’s funny.  I have a love/hate relationship with this dress though.  I love the sparkle for sure, but I can’t put my finger on it.  When I figure it out, I’ll let you know.

Naomi Watts

Eesh.  This goes into the same category as Halle Berry.  It’s awkward and in my opinion, as beautiful as a gal as she is, she looks a bit awkward in it.  However, I do love the color, sparkle and the tiny train.  Actually, If the shoulder wasn’t ridiculously cut out and put back in place I would love this dress.  AND it’s hemmed just PERFECTLY .. a rare occurrence these days.  OH, and your face looks flawless.  Beautifully done on the make up Naomi and congrats on your nomination!

Nicole Kidman

I feel like we are making a trip back to the 1980s fashion runway. How heavy is this dress? I bet it weighs 25 pounds alone EASY.  This actually reminds me of my sister’s prom dress.  It looked something like this except it was not short– it was all the was all the way to the floor… Click Here.  I loved my sister’s dress. I don’t like Ms. Kidman’s dress.  I do like her hair though. And I do love her aussie-ness.

Sandra Bullock

I love Sandra Bullock.  I’m looking at this dress loving it starting at her head.. and then I make my way down to the skirt and YUP.  You guessed it.  I hate THE SHEER.  It’s annoying.  The sheer see through crap faze barely made it’s presence known on the Oscars Red Carpet … why did it have to happen to you Sandy?  With that said, if I don’t concentrate on the bottom half of your body, I’m in love with the dress.  I’m STILL in love with you and can’t wait for the day that we can sit together and eat lunch being the BFFs that we are meant to be.

Stacy Kiebler

Isn’t she cute?  I love her hair and she has GORGEOUS shoulders.  Seriously, they are super great. I like the halter neck of this dress. I’m not wild about the design of the dress or with the pink beading (is there pink beading at the bottom? or is the the change of color from the sequins?) Usually I like pink anything, but this.. meh. In fact, I don’t like this dress.   But she has a great hairdo.

Anne Hathaway

anne hathaway

I’m not a hater. But I’m not an admirer either.  This dress was by far the biggest surprise and biggest disappointment.  I expected more. I expected an Oscar dress from you.  This ain’t it.  We all knew you were going to win and you pick THIS?  WOW.  At least steam it or something next time. Congrats on your win though.. and your hair and make up look beautiful.

You know, all of the other awards shows are for warming up.  For the Oscars, a dress must practically be a separate entity.  It’s gotta have that ZING factor and be interesting.

13.  Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana

How gorgeous is this dress?  It’s so interesting and I love the shades along the hemline.  Ms. Saldana is a GORGEOUS woman.  She’s come a long way since Crossroads with Britney Spears… hahaha thought we would forget, huh?  You were great in that and you are even better today.  Yea.. I watched Crossroads. So what?

12. Queen Latifah

queen latifah

Doesn’t she look delightful?  She knows what looks good on her and I’m constantly impressed with her.  Love the color, love the fit … you look lovely.

11.  Robin Roberts

Robin Roberts

This is how you do it folks.  You look radiant Robin!  Welcome back!  I absolutely LOVE this dress. I want one in every color.  Isn’t the fabric gorgeous? She looks like royalty.  Love it. (You have lovely arms by the way).

10.  Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain

Talk about old Hollywood glamour!  Normally I would tell a red-head never to wear this color… but dang, she is smoking! I love the hair, I love the make up (the lips really do tie everything together), I love the neckline… lovely!  The only complaint I have about this dress is the hem… I don’t understand it. Congrats on your nomination!  Can’t wait to see you in the future!

9.  Jennifer Lawrence

How appropriate!  She was the lady of the night and this dress certainly helped her played the part well (despite her tripping up the stairs… but she handled that with grace).  It is almost bride-ish.. but with the detail on the dress it sets it a part enough I think.  Congrats on your win Jennifer! I can’t wait to see the movie!

8. Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon

It’s my fellow Tennessean lady! I love the black detail on this dress (complete with a little bow!).  The blue is a fantastic color against her golden locks.  So pretty!  That particular fabric constantly makes dresses look wrinkled.. but despite that, Ms. Witherspoon looks amazing.

7. Charlize Theron

OMG.  SUCH a drop dead beautiful lady.  She looks like the oscar trophy. This dress alone would be boring to me.. slap it on Charlize and sha-ZAAAAAM!  I love it.  I love the beautiful corset and the train.  She was able to help a dude suffering from a seizure in this dress moments before this picture was taken.  Isn’t she amazing?  I love her.  I also love her J’adore commercial.

6. Adele

Did ya’ll catch her performance?  Click here.  The best of the best. So why didn’t the sound engineer fix her mic during the chorus of the song? The part where she bends the pitch just slightly is genius.  **sigh** Nothing like have good sound peeps doing your mix.  Back to the dress. I love the length of this dress and the sparkle.  I also love 1/2 sleeve. Her hair and makeup look like perfection.  If there was a definition, Adele’s face would be right there beside it.

5.  Catherine Zeta-Jones

catherine zeta jones

Va Va Voom.. THIS IS AN OSCAR DRESS.  Look at the detail! Look at the color! I love the contrast between her dark hair and the color of the dress.  One tip, sync up your lips when you LIP SYNC.  Granted, put me on a stage and be asked to sing upside down.. I wouldn’t be able to do it either….. but I would TRY!   PS.  My dad thinks you’re hot.

4.  Maria Menounos

Maria Menounos

I adore this whole package.  From the dress to the hair to the jewels.  It’s a throw back to the 60s with her hair and she’s a total sexy minx.  She’s also pretty darn consistent on the red carpet.  See SeeSee?  She knows her look.

3. Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried

THIS IS AN OSCAR DRESS.  Look at the detail on this dress.  How gorgeous does she look?  I’ve said it before in my movie review for GONE.  She’s been in some real bombs, but man, I have such high hopes for her.  She is a wonderful actress.  I want her to do well.  I really do.  With all this said, she’s pretty darn consistent on the red carpet as well.  See? See? See?

2. Jennifer Garner

Anyone who knows me knows how much my husband and I love Jennifer Garner (Especially in ALIAS as Sydney Bristow, HOLLLLLLLAAAAA!!!!!).  How adorable were her and Ben?  This dress is so lovely.  So classy and perfect when combined with her husband.  She is such a classy broad.

HERE IT IS FOLKS…#1… it might be a different choice, but it’s MY choice!

1.  Octavia Spencer

octavia spencer

I love full figured ladies who know how to dress (cuz I need all the inspiration I can get…and I have zero style folks). This lady is an inspiration (take note Melissa McCarthy– get her stylist’s number!) She KNOWS how to dress for a formal affair with the body God gave her.  The slanted shoulder line is so graceful!  The color is PERFECT.  Such a classy lady. THIS is an OSCAR dress for an OSCAR winner! War Eagle Octavia, War Eagle.

What did we learn this award season people?  Let’s recap:

1) See through crap/Sheer fabric messes SUCK.

2) Floral Prints are a HUGE NO NO.

3) No matter how cool you want it to be, shoulder pads are something that should STAY in the past and never make a come back.

4) High slits are OVERRATED!

5) STEAM your DRESSES!!!!

In closing, I would just like to say THANK YOU BABS for singing.  I think I speak for all young vocalists when I say  “I wanna be you when I grow up!”

2013 Grammy Awards Fashion Review!

15 Feb

Meh.  The Grammys.  There were no amazing TRUE BEST dressed celebs. However, there were some “unique” choices as well as a lot of peeps riding my pet peeve of sheer see-through messes.    I have little patience for the lack of effort among my celebrity pals below. This is an awards show… right? Like a formal awards show…. right?  When did the Grammys become so informal?  By the way I use the term “pals” loosely.. OK.. I really don’t know any of them but I know they would love me and we would be best friends if given the chance… right??? … hee hee hee)

**copyright claim** all photos are courtesy of just about every single entertainment website on the internet.

Lets just get to it.  I cannot WAIT for the SHEER-SEE-THROUGH craze to go the way of the Do-Do. Why is this style so popular?  All these gals are so beautiful and these dresses do absolutely nothing for them in my opinion.

Is this dress supposed to resemble a japanese hand fan?  In that case, it’s beautiful.  Again, this style would do much better on an Olympic Ice Skater rather than on the red carpet.

carpet dmanti not AP
Who is this? She’s a gorgeous gal — I just checked out her website (http://www.dmanti.com/) and she has  really cool picture in the side bar.  Obviously she loves to be naked– I don’t blame her. If I had her bod I would be all the time.  I just think this dress is a bit on the yuck and Courtney Love side of life (No offense C.L!  Love ya!)

Jack Osbourne’s wife

jackosbourne and wife

1.  She’s a BEAUTIFUL lady.  2.  This would be a cute outfit withOUT the sheer skirt attached.  Agreed?  3.  I would have LOVED to have seen her in a true evening gown. She would have ROCKED it.  Kinda like Julia Robert’s dress from her Oscar win for Erin Brokovich.

Miranda Lambert

This would have been a pretty nice dress if it didn’t have the sheer crap at the bottom.  I do like the plunging neckline. Sexy and tasteful for sure– and her hair looks beautiful as well.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman

DIdn’t you use wear this last week at the SAGs  in a different color?  Bah.  Lady, you are a Hollywood Icon.  C’mon!

I have to admit…. I like this dress.  This is about one of the only dresses in the “see-through” universe that I think looks pretty neat.  Besides Ri-Ri’s nipple action, this is a home run for me!  Love the color, love the flow of the train, and I think her hair and makeup looks lovely.

Oooooo… the sparkly sparkles came out to play at the Grammys.

Ashlee Keating … who are you?  and um….

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals
Uh……. why did you say yes to this dress?  Three words.  Fire your stylist.

Florence Welch

Florence Welch

Eesh.  I’m kinda torn on this gal.  Yea I know lots of people dig her. And I personally dig her songs– they’re catchy and clever. HOWEVER,  if I’m being honest she hurts my ears (literally) because she sings out of tune.  Like on the same level as Natalie Merchant (yea…. I think you’re cool too but I can’t listen to you for a very long time or my ears will explode.)  Back to the dress…. I like it.  It’s fun and silly.  Very Wizard of Oz like.. reminds me of a cross between Elphaba and the Wizard himself.  If they had a kid, it would be Florence Welch. Don’t you agree?  Look how serious she is in this pic….. so deep.  🙂

Kat Dennings

kat dennings

You were funny in Thor.  I think I could be your friend.  We both have big lips and big boobies.  However, I’m becoming unimpressed with you like I am with Christina Hendricks.  I know you have huge bongos. Would love a little variety around the boobies. I say variety…. hahah.. this coming from someone who is lucky to get a shower and where something other than yoga pants and a strapless shirt) …. on second thought, just go ahead and wear your strapless dresses and push those puppies up.  I still hate this dress.  Sorry love.

Kathy Griffin

You are awesome and I love you.

Pauley Perette

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet
I would NEVER wear this dress– but that’s only because I can’t rock the t-shirt dress form. Pauley, you’re super cool and you pretty much rock whatever you wear or do.  Keep on keepin’ on.

Skylar Grey

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

This chick is the one who wrote the song that Eminem and Rhianna sampled Love the way You Lie. She’s written lots of stuff.  I dig her voice.  I dig this dress. Not a fan of side side boob. BUT I do like the color and of course the sparkle. The halter looks ok but looks kind of wonky at the top or is that just my imagination?

Solange Knowles

Solange KNowles

I love Solange.  I DO like this dress. But I don’t love it. I dig the pink shoes too.  I looooooove her hair.

Carly Rae Jepson

Carly Rae Jepson
She looks JUST like Marceline from Adventure Time.  See?

Are ya’ll a fan of the cut-outs?  I’m personally annoyed by them. Only because it’s like these gals take a GORGEOUS dress that would look great and someone takes a scissor to them.  Unnecessary in my opinion.

Alicia Keys

alicia keys

Why does she always smile as if she just passed gas?  (Is that rude or mean?  She’s a lovely gal don’t get me wrong.. it just always looks like she just let out a little something extra other than showing some skin…)

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Actually this dress is fugly. Perhaps the unnecessary cutout actually helps this dress.. eh.. I don’t know.  nothing can help this dress.

Kelly Osbourne

I think she would have looked great without the cutouts… this dress is beautiful and I love the way it accents her beautiful shoulders.  She really is a pretty gal and I’m so proud of her for getting sober and losing the weight (something I need to do as I pudge around my house as a professional poop slinger).

Natasha Bedingfield

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

At first glance this dress is boring to me.  I do like the color.  She looks like she just rolled out of bed with her hair though.  And the cut outs on the side.. meh…. stupid.

Hmmmmm.. Really???

Lila Downs

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

What is this? Who is she?

Lisa Damato

Lisa DAmato

I kinda dig this.. for a costume. Is that what this is?  I liked he puff sleeves.  Anne Shirley got a dress from Matthew that had puffed sleeves.  But this DRESS.  Hmm. It’s like a cross between Alice in Wonderland and Heidi.  It also reminds me of P!nk’s wedding cake… See?

I ADORE ADELE.  But why are prints popular?  Adele you aren’t the first to fall for this heinous fad!  See Elisabeth?  See Julianna?

The “go on witcha bad self” award!

Kate Pierson of the B52s

B52slady Kate Pierson

Oh my.. this like Star Trek meets sparkle bondage.  I love it. I love her.  She makes my heart happy.

The “I make sheer- see- through look GOOD” award!

Kelly Rowland

WOW.  You know, This dress is mesmerizing.. kinda like one of those pictures where you have to focus to see the hologram or whatever the heck those pictures are. Pretty cool dress and if anyone can pull it off, it’s Ms. Rowland. On a side note, do you think she’s wearing underwear with this dress?  I mean, even thong would probably show somewhere in the sheer parts. Just curious.

Hold up…. it’s COUPLE time!

Faith Hill and Tim McGaw

Not wild about Faith’s dress (I loved her at the Oscars when Whitney pulled out that one year… see?   She sang “Over The Rainbow” last minute when Whitney Houston had to pull out for some reason– I think that dress is fun) In any case she is lovely gal.  And Tim McGraw…. every time I see these two it takes me back to her “Cry” album and his “Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors” album.  I was in Montana and listened to Cry and Tiny Dancer ALL. THE.  TIME.  I love them.

Jenna Jameson and … er… you know, that guy

They look cute and though I hate cutouts, Ms. Jameson looks shockingly dressed and as always, she looks beautiful. I love the striped vested suit on her man.  They look great together though I’m a fan of the Miley Cyrus hair she’s got going on.  (No offense Miley.  I like the longer dark locks better)

Gotye and Kimbra

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Um.. ok.

Sting and Trudie Styler

Rock royalty.  I love them.  I love it when dudes wear decorative scarves.  That’s hot.

What’s up with the jumpsuits? Isn’t this a formal affair?  Both of these ladies look fabulous but I personally have an unspoken rule about this being an evening gown occasion (unless you are Ellen– in which case you can just rock out in your pantsuit cuz you are awesome).

Rocsi Diaz

OH.  And for everyone ruining my patriotic loving feeling and hating on my buddy Beyonce for singing along to a backing track at the inauguration ……… she’s quite possibly the most fierce vocalist of my generation.  Here are a few videos to remind you why..

Tribute to Tina Turner

Tribute to Barbara Streisand

Ok… here’s the best I can do for BEST dressed.  This term is used VERY loosely because honestly, I was NOT impressed with anyone because I don’t see any effort or it’s the same ole same ole.

4. Carrie Underwood

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet
You are consistent.  You know what looks good on you and you roll with it.  You always look well put together.  Also, I thought the dress during your performance was super.

3.  Katy Perry

Katy Perry

Meh, it looks good but you kinda look like Morticia’s preppy sister with big jugs.

2. LL Cool J

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet
I love you.  You are AWESOME. Such a stud.

1.  Bonnie McKee

Bonnie McKee

I don’t know who you are other than you a cool songwriter who writes for just about everyone. Well done.  I think this dress is COOL.  Sure it’s not exactly PRETTY or just drop dead gorgeous… but much like my #1 from last time, this dress has character and was a helluva lot more interesting than the rest of the flops we saw.  Right right?  Not to mention she wins the award for the best hair HANDS DOWN.

Next up….. OSCARS 2013!!

2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards Fashion Review!

31 Jan

WHOA BUDDY!!  The good, the lace and the WONKY! This award season is fun.  I’m not wild about a lot of the styles.  However, there were improvements from recent disappointments AND there was a hard fall from the glamour pedestal from one of our big Oscar Nominees.   Two big things I noticed for the SAG awards: LOTS of Black and White and if you went with color then you REALLY went with a BIG color.  On a side note, what is up with people wearing part solid/part sheer outfits, cut out dimensions on perfectly timeless dresses, and letting the hem be WAY too long .. like “no purpose, doesn’t look like a train and you’re gonna trip on it ” kinda long?

**copyright claim** all photos are courtesy of just about every single entertainment website on the internet.

We’ll start with the MOST IMPROVED.

Kerry Washington

This by far is not on my best dressed list, however, what an admirable try for the SAG awards.  Everything looks well put together compared to your recent tries. I’m especially excited about your sleek hairdo. You look lovely.  Keep it up!

Juliana Marguilies

BRAVO lady!  You look rejuvenated and beautiful.  Thank you for not wearing curtains with pockets.

Gorgeous hairdo as well.  A+!

What is up with all the LACEY looking gowns?

Nicole Kidman

Such a gorgeous creature and she chooses the sheer see-through lace look.  Eesh. I do like the color against your skin tone though.

Nicole Kidman

Mayim Bialik

You know, I’m just gonna say it.  You and I don’t see eye to eye on what looks good.  BUT despite this major difference, I do think you look nice in this frock but the color is ick.

Mayin Blailik

Look at all of these lacey numbers… what do you think? Are you a fan of the lace?

Edie Falco

Edie Falco

Jennifer Garner

She looks like the Oscar Trophy.  I love her.

Melanie Lynskey

WHY do people let the length of dresses look RIDICULOUSLY long?  How do they not trip!?!?!?!?!

Melanie Lynskey

Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts

For one reason or another… I have a SOFT SPOT for these gals.

Lea Michele

First off, I love Lea Michele.  Love her voice and respect her talent.   I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE this color.  It’s bright, bold and explosive.  With that said, it’s a little “prommy.” BUT maybe that’s the vibe Lea was going for. I mean, she just graduated from high school in Glee last year… right?  🙂

Julia Stiles

Man, I love Julia Stiles.  I have a soft spot for her. I am not a fan of this grey color for the red carpet, however, I like the cut of the dress and the detail.  It reminds me of paint splatter on a wall. Also, is it just me or does Julia look like a cat in this pic?

Julia Stiles

Sally Field

She’s quite arguably one of the best actresses around.  I love her free spirited look and keeping her style classy and fun.  I also love this color on her.

The Plain Janes.

I can appreciate those who like to keep it simple, especially for the SAG awards.  The SAG awards, to me, seem to be the most relaxed compared to the Golden Globes and Oscars.

Elisabeth Moss

I recently started watching The West Wing and Mad Men.  I’m looking forward to seeing more from this chick.  She looks cute.  Simple. Understated. And Sparkly.  Nice. … and she married Fred Armison and divorced him all within a year.  I wonder what happened there.

Gretchen Mol

OMG.  Have you seen Boardwalk Empire??? I can’t decide if I love her or hate her character.  I guess that means she’s doing a good job, eh?  I think this look works for her.  I liked the green against her skin. I just think this dress itself looks boring and kinda like a bridesmaid dress.  Right right?  IT does!

Gretchen Mol

Jane Krakowski

Ugh.  PEACH?  Seriously?  I like the sparkle (cuz I dig all things that shine), however, peach?  She’s taking her responsibilities for Trop 50 a little too far.  Blagh.  A wash-out.

Jane Krakowski

Tina Fey

Some people love her, some people hate her.  I love her. So smart, so funny.  I also think she has a knack for wearing things that compliment her personality and body.

Taking a risk and WINNING!

Nancy O’Dell

You get the big risk award.  I LOOOOOOOVE this dress.  I think it is SO interesting and it fits like a glove with her figure.  She’s only a tv host and she looks like a super star.  I love the color, train, fit, fabric…. I love the earrings and the hair.  JOB WELL DONE NANCY!

Nancy Odell

Not impressed.

Claire Danes

First, let me say– I actually like this dress.  I love the black on the  one shoulder draped look and the detail up the slit.  However, for a nominee (and winner), I was hoping for a little more from Claire.  This is just a little… boring for my taste and don’t get me started on your hair.  Congrats on your win though!  Cannot WAIT for next season of Homeland.

Bringing the Wonk.

Eesh. There are a lot of these wonky frocks.  I don’t know what is up with the choices this season.

Jane Lynch

Bondage anyone? Jane you are such a classy lady.  This look gives me the impression that you are auditioning for the next Conan the Barbarian movie.

Jane Lynch

January Jones

Now now now January.  You and I both know the only person who could possibly pull off this hideous frock and make it look remotely  good is Helena Bonham Carter.  Even then I still wouldn’t like it but at least she would own it like she came out of the womb wearing it.  You’re trying too hard.  C’mon. You’re a pretty girl.  You can do this.

Jenna Elfman

UGH. I **HATE** sheer see through crap.  It leaves little to the imagination and is so tacky (in my humble opinion).  You are such a beautiful gal Jenna!  Why are you wearing something like this?   I like the halter idea but the rest of the dress is HIDEOUS. Sorry.  I do love your new show 1600 Penn.  Fingers crossed they don’t cancel it. You are super duper funny in it.

Jenna Elfman

Julianne Moore

Flower power!  No thanks on the cleavage dip.  Not a good look. At. All.

Michelle Dockery

I’m really trying hard to like Downton Abbey … there are brilliant moments but I am still trying to figure out what all the fuss is about.  Eesh.  I do like your character, I just don’t care about you yet.

Michelle DOckery

And I don’t care about your sideboob here either.  The End. Cue music.

Morena Boraccin

I LOVE MORENA.  I don’t love this dress.  It resembles her reptilian side from her cancelled TV show V.  Don’t you think?  Kind of a weird design if you ask me.

Morena Boraccin

Rose Byrne

Rose Byrne

Sigourney Weaver

This actually hurts my heart to write negatively about my dear Sigourney.  She’s Ellen frickin Ripley for crying out loud! Unless she is lighting blowtorches and beating the crap out of some drooling alien in this dress, she might as well be in a paper bag. What’s up with this cut?  When stars look in the mirror with their stylist (or with their BFF), do they get lied to about how they actually look?  You are such a classy, timeless woman … this dress doesn’t do you justice. In fact you would do much better with wearing fig leaves over this dress. On another topic, I CANNNNNNNNOT wait for your summer drama Political Animals to come back.  I adore that show and I adore you.  ❤

Sigourney Weaver

How fast they fall.

Julie Bowen

You’re killing me here lady.  Seriously WHAT IS UP!?!? Are you giving up all together?  This dress is poorly fitted to you knock out bod, the color looks drab, your hair looks like a hot mess and your hemline is too long. The best thing I can say is your face looks gorgeous.  I love the natural look for you with the smokey eyes.

Anne Hathaway

I cannot wait for these sheer fishnet crap dresses to phase out.  Absolutely dreadful!  I am so disappointed right now.  You’re an Oscar nominee … you’re Anne Hathaway!!  WHY WHY WHY???? If the dress was just a little bit shorter and you had ice skates on I would think you were auditioning for a Nancy Kerrigan biopic.  C’mon!!!  I’ll be holding my breath for your Oscar dress… I expect BRILLIANCE from you!

Honorable Mention

Alfre Woodard

Such poise!  Wonderful color!  I love you.  Lets do lunch!  xo

Alfre Woodard

Jessica Lawrence

Very lovely!  I heard you had pneumonia on this night.  Good to see you are on the mend.

There was a little “mishap” with your dress as you walked up to the podium to accept your award (congrats by the way).  Apparently though folks, I’m happy to report that it was just the lining that popped off and it didn’t actually rip.

Jessica Chastain

Great color.  Great fit.  Great hair. Great great great.  (WAYYYYYY better than your Golden Globe gown)

Jessica Chastain

And Ta-Dahhhhhh!  THE BEST DRESSED YA’LL!!!!!

7. Maria Menounos

Doesn’t she look amazing?? Holy smoke!  She is DEFINITELY one of the best dressed so far this award season. Hooray!

Maria Menounos

6. The chick who came with Matthew Morrison

I have no idea who this chick is but I want this dress.  If I was still performing classical music, I would totally wear this dress if I could.  I love the lines and the neckline and the concert black color.

5.  Sofia Vergara

Yea yea yea.  You’re every man’s dream and you annoy me.

But I can’t deny that you rocked it at the SAG awards. Bravo!

4. Amanda Seyfried

This gal is on my radar.  I think she gets better and better with everything that she’s in (and believe me, she’s been in some stinkers).  BUT there’s hope. I see the talent– and she’s fun to watch.  She’s a gorgeous gal too.  I thought this gown was a gorgeous color next to her blonde locks.  I love the fit of the dress around all of her curves.  It just looks lovely.  Gorgeous look!

3.  Idina Menzel

This dress (to me) is delicious.  If I had her body, I would be in this dress in a heartbeat.  It accentuates all the perfect spots.  I love the burst design on the rib of the dress.  My favorite part of this dress?  The straps on the shoulders.  I love the thick band and the dynamic neckline.  Definitely one of my faves.

Idina Menzel

2. Helen Hunt

I LOVE SPARKLE.  I love SILVER. This is a SUPERB choice for an awards show nominee.  I love Helen Hunt.

19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Arrivals

1.  Jamie Alexander

WOW.  This dress is STUNNING. To be honest– to me, this dress is SO cool. It’s daring and is oh so very sexy.  My husband says it needs some chainmail because it’s “costume-y” and would go well when she plays Thor’s sidekick Sif.  This dress reminds him of her character. Alas, this is my list and not his.  I LOVE IT.  And it’s my #1.  So there.

We’re halfway through award season ya’ll!  Next stop…. The Grammys on Feb 10th!!!!!  Can’t wait!

2013 Golden Globes Fashion Review!

17 Jan

OK, I have to do this quickly before one of the babies wakes up– trust me, that’s no easy task.  If I’m not slinging poop, I’m working on my 712th arrangement of Itsy Bitsy Spider in operatic form. I should try to put that out as a single on I-Tunes.. it would be a hit, I’m sure.  That and “I’m a pretty pony… clippity clop clippity clop.” **sigh**
I was going to do the People’s Choice Awards and the Golden Globes.. but lets get real folks.  Who cares about the Peoples Choice….. and second, I don’t have time.  However, Golden Globes…. here we go.  Overall, better on the fashion ya’ll from the Emmys.  Holy cow … lots better.  Not the best, but WAY better effort ya’ll.  I will say after reviewing the fashion this year with a trusty pal, sweetheart necklines and dark goth lipstick must be all the rage this year.  Everyone seems to be wearing these two things.  Again, here is my unsolicited opinion on the 2013 Golden Globes …. hee hee. If Lady Gaga is reading this, know I am not spreading hate… I’m spreading awareness.  Hee hee heee!!!! (I ❤ you!)

Where shall we start?  Hmm.  We will start on a positive note.

All in the Family

Lets begin with a family that came together to the awards show because their son was Mr. Golden Globe.  The Fox family.  I adore  this family.  It’s a rarity when two people stayed married in Hollywood.  These two have been married forever and are so graceful and have been for a long time.  Love them.  Their son Sam was Mr. Golden Globe this year.  I love the hot pink color of Tracy Pollan’s dress.  I also think she pretty much looks perfect.  The fellas look great too.  Who doesn’t like Michael J. Fox?  And his son is pretty much his twin.  Well done!

Fox Family

The Washingtons — Denzel and his daughter Olivia

Denzel and his daughter look super sweet.  I think she is beautiful– and though I hate prints on dresses, this works for her.  I also like the neckline.  Very tasteful and classy.  I also think her ruffles diagonally up the side are a nice touch. Denzel looks like handsome all the time.  Can’t really argue that.

A for Sincerity

Helena Bonham Carter

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

This woman really can do no wrong.. why?  Because she is Helena Bonham Carter.  We expect interesting fashion from this gal.  Her hair is always  a frazzled mess almost to match Tim Burton’s aura.  Though I don’t like her dresses typically and she looks like a hot mess,  she stays pretty true to her personality and I can appreciate that.  Plus, she’s pretty much one of the best actresses around.  I love her.

Most Improved

Julianna Margulies

Thank goodness you didn’t wear a big pocketed dress that resembles my grandmother’s unwanted curtains. Seriously, this looks very nice on you Julianna.  It’s not my favorite, BUT, you look beautiful and I love the color on you.  The dress itself is very busy with the intricate details of the beads and neckline … however it’s almost too much for my taste.  I like your hair, but I wish you would wear it down. You have gorgeous hair lady— put some loose curls in it and part it down the side. Aren’t you a spokesperson for a hair product?  Work it lady. Overall, good job.

Lena Dunham

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Lady, I was so proud of you when I saw you on the red carpet.  Seriously, SUCH an improvement from the sad pony wearing a doily look at the Emmys.  I am not crazy about the neckline, BUT I think this is a gorgeous dress for you.  You look beautiful.  I love the chocolate color and the fabric of the dress.  Well done.  Congrats on your Golden Globe victories lady!  DId ya’ll hear her acceptance speeches?  Totally adorable and so humble.  I look forward to catching your show sometime.

Fall from Grace

Julie Bowen

What HAPPENED! WHAT is this “half grecian toga” crap that you are wearing?  The color is.. meh, alright I guess.  But the cut .. form.. EVERYTHING about this dress is… blagh.    This just goes to show how you can go to Best Dressed to Worst Dressed in no time.  It looks as though you were running late and grabbed the nearest fabric to cover yourself after a shower.  I expect better Julie.

Kelly Osbourne

NBC's "70th Annual Golden Globe Awards" - Red Carpet Arrivals

Ok, I admit, her dress isn’t awful.  In fact, it’s quite lovely.  However, I really don’t like the look as a whole.  I’m over the purple hair and I’m not into her pink lips against the dress and the purple hair.  It’s distracting to me.  I must say I do like the mermaid style of the dress and the color.  The lipstick would be fine against a neutral hair color, but with the purple, it just makes it look like a washed out 80s antic.   I fear someone is going to be putting you on the worst dressed list on your own show Kelly!  We expect better!  xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo I still love you.

Mediocre at Best

I was going to have a “worst catagory,” however, I think what’s worse is the fact that these actresses and their dress give the impression that they just didn’t care.  To me, these dresses are pretty blah and nothing really that great about them.

Kerry Washington

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

STILL not impressed with you.  You look SO good on your show and everything from your dress to your hair here are a disappointment.  Like I said before.. I hate the kind of dresses that are half see through on the bottom.  It’s kinda trashy in my opinion.  I do like the color on you, but all of the lines are wrong on this dress and makes it dull.  There are details in the most unfortunate places distracting the eyes from your beautiful face!  …… please impress me at the Oscars. I’m pulling for you!

Alyssa Milano

WTF are you wearing?? Didn’t we have this discussion when Claire Danes wore a similarly hideous dress to the Emmys?  It makes your boobs look unflatteringly saggy (this cut always does that).  I also don’t like the citrus color with this style of dress.. but I do like the color.. does that makes sense?  Maybe I’m too picky. I DO like the earrings and the clutch though.  Very tasteful.  And your makeup and hair are perfection, as always. As a tidbit, I love knowing they drew Ariel in your image.  So pretty.

Emily Blunt

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Bah.  Triangle cut-outs, seriously Emily?  You of all people should know that’s not a flattering look…….. Sheryl Crow did that a couple of years ago and it wasn’t cool then either.  Lets not repeat history.  You’re better than that.  This dress would have been a home run withOUT the cut outs. Sheesh. People try too hard.

Katherine McPhee

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

The dresses just get worse and worse.  Just say NO!!!! All sorts of bad with this dress.

Halle Berry

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Fail.  Doing the Jolie leg stand is a little unnecessary and SO last year.  I HATE PRINTS and HIGH SLITS.

Eva Longoria

NBC's "70th Annual Golden Globe Awards" - Arrivals

I can’t even justify this dress.

Zooey Deschanel

NBC's "70th Annual Golden Globe Awards" - Red Carpet Arrivals

Is it just me?  Second verse, same as the first.  It’s like she picks the same dress in a different fabric and color every time.  Strapless with a curved bodice. Blah blah blah.  I’m bad about wearing the same thing over and over again.  But I’m just a stay at home mama with a loud mouth.  If I had lots of moo-la, I would try different things in the fashion world … but then again, I’d probably end up on a worst list on some lame blog written by a nobody like this one!  But hey, Zooey!  You have nothing to lose… nowhere to go on this blog but up honey!  Will love to see how you do at the other awards shows.  ❤

PS.  You forgot to get your dress steamed.

Seriously.. what is up with these dresses???????

Anjelica Huston

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

What is going on buddy? I don’t even know where to begin or what to say.   I love you — I especially love your nephew as Richard Harrow in Boardwalk Empire.. but that’s another post for some other time.  You are such a lady .. a classy, BEAUTIFUL lady.  C’mon!  You’re an old school BAD ASS.  You can do better!

Julianne Hough

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

I’m done with you.

Lucy Liu

NBC's "70th Annual Golden Globe Awards" - Red Carpet Arrivalsluc

Ew. Ew. Ew.

Nene Leakes

NBC's "70th Annual Golden Globe Awards" - Arrivals

Eesh.  The only person who can pull this off is Meryl Streep and even then I didn’t like it that much.  But, you don’t tell someone like Meryl what to do.  She’s Meryl Streep.  She can wear a bathing suit to the Oscars and make it a trend and it would be ok.

By the way… does anyone know why on Earth Nene would even be invited to the Golden Globes??? Pffffft!

And … here we are.  The best dressed of the night.

You are perfection.  From hair, makeup, and the dress… it’s a beautiful look.  I love the neckline and the shape of the dress.  So gorgeous… You JUST gave birth not too long ago.  You look smashing!

Tina Fey

NBC's "70th Annual Golden Globe Awards" - Arrivals

You are so cool and deliciously well put together.  You ooze fashion perfection with this one. I love it.  Compliments every part of your body and your hair is gorgeous.

Francesca Eastwood.  MS. GOLDEN GLOBE.

Francesca Eastwood

Perfect for the daughter of a Hollywood legend. You are echoing 1940s screen sirens. I love it. The capped sleeves and detail of the train are gorgeous.   I wish that some of our other fashion victims had chosen as wisely as you.  I look forward to seeing you as you grow up.

Anne Hathaway

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Stunning.  I love this look especially with her short hair.  It makes up for the fact that I’m not a fan of her voice– or her version of Dreamed a Dream.  Butchers it in my opinion.  Alas, this is about her dress and not her performance.  I love the color and the straight neckline.  The fabric of the dress is GORGEOUS.  Way to go Anne and congrats on your Golden Globe!

Helen Mirren

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

I. Love. This. Woman.  She is absolutely stunning.  All these youngsters need to start looking up to people like Helen.  She can do no wrong.

Who’s my #1 Best Dressed???

Naomi Watts

Take note ya’ll. This is how you do it folks.  Stunning.  Absolutely stunning.  I adore the train on this dress — and the gorgeous color!!  This accentuates everything perfectly on her body.  I cannot wait to see what we get from you the rest of the award season!

A special message to Jodie Foster:  AMAZING speech the other night.  You’re awesome, your message was awesome and you are a beautiful soul.  I hope you keep making movies because I’d miss you.
